let me guess...you want your man sorry-ano back up there don't you? He can't lead off. He can't play left field. He cannot hit or run anymore & has never taken pitches. He's now a malcontent & has 5 more no trade yrs of bust the bank contract $ coming his way.

How did you get that he wanted Soriano back at leadoff, after he specifically mentioned that Fukudome was doing well at leadoff?

Considering the fact that every post you have ever made on NSBB has been a direct attack at Alfonso Soriano, I'll have to admit that at this point I take pleasure in the fact you are stuck watching him for the next umpteen years. It cracks me up that you could have this much anger over one player who really isn't all that bad of a player. It's even funnier that you are never around to give him props on the days he carries the team or maybe has a good game. You only show up when he's going through some hard times. You clearly take pleasure in watching him fail. It's actually amazing as I sit here thinking about your entire existence on this site. There isn't any kudos to Randy Wells for pitching a lights out game. There isn't a tip of the hat to Jake Fox for being the hottest bat in the Cubs line up. There is only your infatuation with the struggles of one Alfonso Soriano. I honestly believe you really don't care if the Cubs win. What really matters to you is that Alfonso Soriano goes 0-4 so you can come here and rub everyone's nose in it. Help me out here. Show me that I'm wrong. Show me that there is more to baseball for you than the love of failure for Alfonso Soriano.

And it's actually quite sad. Why? Because your anger is misdirected. Soriano isn't the one who offered that deal to Soriano. Hendry did. Soriano isn't the one who fills out the line up card. Piniella does that.

Help me to understand the level of hatred you have for a fairly productive baseball player who signed a contract we would all sign tomorrow if someone offered it to us.

Show me that if the Cubs somehow pulled off a World Series victory, you wouldn't be on here the next day bitching about how Soriano went 2-20 in the series and completely ignoring the fact we just won a World Series. Show me that you honestly are a Cub fan first, and not a Soriano hater first.

Offer us something different than your same identical post for the one thousandth time.

that was a great post, but you know his reply is going to be something like this-

Why must you always defend Sorry-ano? Do you love his solo home runs that much? I for one am beyond sick of this free swinging, defensive nightmare, albatross of a player. Why must you criticize me for not liking this overpaid prima donna? Oh well, keep pretending he is the best player on earth and that he's about to cure cancer. I bet you want him in the leadoff spot too, don't you? I talked to a scout just now and he said you're wrong.

it's funny because most of the time people aren't even arguing with his points, they're just telling him to stop bringing up soriano. he doesn't get it though, he just tuns it back into a soriano argument.

He probably saw the word "leadoff" and just assumed that you were defending Sorry-ano (GET IT!! IT'S SO WITTY AND HILARIOUS) and then decided to grace us with his presence.

Lou pulls Soriano out of the field in the middle of playing the top of the 9th and replaces him with Sean Marshall, WTF.

Did you just want to post in this thread?

It was a good move. If nothing else it was nice to see a manager get away from having to manage by the book and go with an unconventional move in a fairly big game.

Meh I dont know if Id call it a good move, as LaRussa countered that whole thing perfectly and got the matchups in his favor. It worked, but LaRussa got the lefty/righty matchup he wanted

If you consider taking out a .300 hitter who is your leadoff man for an unproven young player a favorable match up then I guess so, but Lou made LaRussa his bitch that inning.

plus, IF the game went into extras, Lou made LaRussa burn a bench guy. They only had one other left. I know you don't play to tie, but it would have made things a little interesting.

note to lou, you don't have to hit and run every time there's a runner on first base and a 3-2 count. say, when the runner on first base is slow and the batter strikes out a lot.

Lou's bullpen use tonight in general left a bit to be desired.

Eh, its more the fault of the bull pen then of Lou. If Guz had been able to get either Nieves or Kearns, then Marshall should be able to handle the seventh, Marmol the eighth, and Gregg the ninth.

Now I would have left Wells in for the sixth, esp. with 2 outs in the top of the inning when he was up to bat and with the 6-7-8 spots due up. He was only at 85 pitches and had handled the last two innings decently.

Yeah I didn't really have an issue with how he handled the pen tonight. I agree that the only issue I had was taking Wells down after the 5th. Although they seem to think they need to keep Wells' pitch count down lower than the other starters and there could be good reason for that.

The only problem was they all seemed adverse to throwing strikes and Heilman was terrible.

putting on the hit and run with bradley at first and soriano at the plate might be the dumbest thing i've ever seen a manager do in a cubs uniform, and that's saying a lot.

That IS saying a lot, because Dusty did far worse things, much more frequently. And tonight wasn't even Lou's worse move (the hit & run, I mean, and I do acknowledge it was stupid).

Maybe it wasn't the "worst" move, but the most inexplicable. I don't see even a shred of logic in that. When Dusty did stupid things, at least I understood the way his head was working and why he was doing them. They were dumb and wrong, but I understood what he thought he was doing.

This was a small moment so I can't say it's the worst move or anything like that, but sending Bradley right there is just beyond comprehension.
