If he says he doesn't care about money and will come cheap, I see no harm in at the very least inviting him to spring training. As much as I'd like to see Marshall succeed as a starter, if Schilling is healthy and marginally productive it'd be nice to have a player like him in the rotation

That being said I doubt it happens...

I heard an interview on XM that Schilling wanted to play for the Cubs about a month ago. I couldn't find it online and I didn't know how serious he was so I never posted anything about it.

If he'd sign for about 4 or 5 million I'd be all over it.

He's not going to open the season, he'll probably be a second half guy.

i wouldn't give him that much for part of a season but i'd give him a contract with a low base and lots of incentives.

he really has a sense of baseball history and knows what it meant to be associated with the red sox breaking "the curse," and i'm sure he'd love to ride off into the sunset after helping the cubs end their 100+ year drought.

I would absolutely love to have Schilling but I do find a bit funny/scary that we would be getting another injury prone starter.

Well, you'd think at some point that at least a couple of them would be healthy at the same time, right?

(Looks up the 1985 season)

..... oh. :(
