Milton Bradley likely will hit in the clean-up spot, Piniella said.

So...if Bradley is hitting cleanup, that means Ramirez has gotta be 3rd right? Cuz bumping Ramirez down to 5th just seems really dumb.

So if that assumption is correct, you can put Lee 2nd, 5th, or 6th right? With Lee's dp's, I'd hate to put him 2nd, but that would let Soto be 5th.

Soriano

Lee

Ramirez

Bradley

Soto

Fukudome

Fontenot

Theriot

I would love that lineup (and Lee's DP's would actually be minimized hitting 2nd with the pitcher and then a slugger directly in front of him).

But Lou has shown absolutely no indication that he is going to move Lee. In his first projected opening day lineup, Lee is batting 3rd and Ramirez 5th. I don't think they are moving Lee anytime soon.

All things considered...that's a pretty darn good lineup. A far cry from the days where we'd have Neifi, Izturis, Pierre, Hairston, Macais and Cedeno in the same lineup .

I dont mind Lee in the 3rd hole and ARam batting 5th. With Lee and Bradley's high OBP, Ramirez would have many more RBI opportunities batting 5th.

Get someone with a little speed and good OBP (Fontenot or Theriot) in the 2 hole, Soto 6th, and that would be one helluvah lineup.

Piniella's too old school to move Lee into the two hole. Lee's GIDP nightmares are probably an anomaly anyways though.

Yeah, hes fairly middle of the pack in GB%. I wouldn't have a problem hitting in second, especially since Soriano doesn't end up on first base a ton.

I dunno, Lee's ineptitude w/ guys on base last year was so obvious I would not be shocked to see him moved out of the top 4. He could hardly whine about it.

I'm going to make a few assumptions for this post:

1. That Fukudome has a nice rebound this season and performs close to some of the projections we've seen for him.

2. That Lou's serious about the possibility of moving Soriano out of the leadoff spot.

3. That Lou won't move Derek Lee out of the 3rd spot in the lineup.

With all of that being said, I would like to see a lineup of:

Fukudome/Johnson

Soto

Lee

Bradley

Ramirez

Soriano

Fontenot/Theriot

Theriot/Miles

VS. RH/LH

I like that lineup because it keeps the high OBP guys that work counts in front of our power hotters. In a perfect world, I would move ARam to 3, Sori to 5, and Lee to 6, but alas, the world is not perfect.

Lemme crush #2 for you right now. Lou told Paul Sullivan yesterday that Soriano was most likely going to be leadoff opening day. Lou was just rambling before I think...

I would guess that Soto would probably be Lou's last choice to bat 2nd.

If Fukudome can make a bit of a resurgence, and even hit for some kind of gap power while still taking walks, I'd like to see the lineup be:

Soriano

Fukudome

Ramirez

Bradley

Soto

Fontenot

Lee

Theriot

Or, if Lee has to stay in the 3 spot:

Soriano

Fukudome

Lee

Bradley

Ramirez

Soto

Fontenot

Theriot

With Soto's doubles and HR power, I'd love to see him hitting 5th, but I don't see that happening with Lou.

Lee has already said he would move down in the lineup with no questions asked.

that is correct, sir.

at least until fukudome shows he's awesome this year and needs to move up.

If Fuku can start hitting like everyone expected before the start of last season, I would like this lineup.

I like how it starts RLRLR

Assuming they're facing a RH starter on opening day here is your lineup:

Soriano

Fontenot

Ramirez

Bradley

Lee

Soto

Fukudome

Theriot

Zambrano (Though it could also be Dempster)

This lineup has the L-R balance that old school guys like Piniella like. Lee gets to bat ahead of Soto out of respect but it's ok because that gives Soto lots of people to drive in. Fukudome switches places with Fontenot once he shows that he's turned it around.

Ok Im in again right now and I keep getting the "were sorry we are unable to process your request due to high activity". So I should keep hitting continue?
