  1. This has been one of the more interesting, random games of the season.
  2. Opening Day is without a doubt my favorite day of the year. As someone stated above, hopefully we can be around .500 for a while, and at least make the decision to sell off the extra parts a tough one.
  3. It's not as if he was on a full sprint. It was a lazy pop fly. He was camped under it, and he wasn't going to have to go into the crowd to catch it. He may not have even needed to jump up to catch it. I realize he wasn't good defensively, but it really wasn't shaping up to be that tough of a catch. I guess we're basically agreeing to disagree.
  4. Jersey- you don't have to watch it. I just think that it's a bit irrational to say its terrible, ESPN is a joke etc, etc before anyone has even seen it. The documentary is a look at Bartman after the fact and looking at how he's coming to terms with the way he was villified after it happened. It's completely your choice to watch it or not. To me, it sounds interesting, but to call my opinion nonsense, when you're calling the doc ridiculous without even seeing it is a bit dramatic don't you think? Erik- he very well could have hit his hand on the wall and droped it, but regardless of how people felt about Alou' athleticism and defense, he's still a professional athlete, and I personally doubt that a little bump on the hand would have made him drop it. I mean, I've seen Ken Griffey Jr. completely break his wrist against a wall and hang on to a ball. Now, I know Griffey was about 100x the player that Alou was, but I think the wrist breaking while crashing into the wall at top speed and bumping your glove on top of a wall after catching the ball are equally proportionate to the gap in the quality of the two players. J.R.- I share the same opinion as you. I have no doubt that had the ball not been hit, he would've come down with it. Just my opinions.
  5. I'm not a person who bashes on ESPN and generally like their programming, so take that into account here. I'm very interested to see this. While I don't think he's the person to blame for the Cubs losing that game, I think he definitely interfered with that play. I don't think it would've been that much of a stretch to say Alou could've made the play. It looked to me like Bartman, along with the four or five other people in his area were definitely hanging over the railing when he hit the ball. That being said, the team shouldn't have completely lost their composure and sucked it up and finished off inning, and subsequently the game. I think this could turn out to be a very interesting documentary. They're having a world class director make this film, not some intern in the truck getting his "big shot" with the network. I think people should just watch, take it for what it is, and go from there as to whether or not it's beating a dead horse.
  6. Well with Hendry announcing the callup of Shark, who's the odd man out? Patton or Vizcaino?
  7. I know it's a very small sample size, but could someone give us the BB/9IP by the bullpen last year, compared to the first part of this year?
  8. Yeah, my bad on the 11-8 record down the stretch. That was San Antonio, not Boston. I guess I had a bit of a brain fart and got my big guys with bad knees teams confused. That being said, I really do feel that Hinrich could play a big part in this series. He's played well in the playoffs before, and will have to be a factor if the Bulls have any hope to make this a competitive series. Obviously I don't think he's gonna be the best player on the floor, but I do think he will be a key player.
  9. Keener98, I would have quoted your post, but as I'm replying on my Blackberry, it won't let me. The Celts weren't really playing that well coming down the stretch as they finished something like 11-8. They have no one that can stay with Hinrich and Gordon defensively if Rondo is on DRose. While I think Pierce will be effective against Salmons defensively, he will be expending a high amount of energy to do so. That may factor into his offense, and depending on the series length, how effective he is later on in the series. Aside from Kendrick Perkins, the Celts have nothing to speak of inside without KG. Let's be honest, Mikki Moore, Big Baby, and Leon Powe aren't exactly Parish, McHale and Bird. In the end, I think the Celts win in 6, but I think it will be a very competitive series, and if the Bulls can get one of the first two, I think they could spring the upset.
  10. Honestly, if I had to take one player to take a game winner, I'll take Kevin Durant. He has unbelievable shot making ability, and generally has a mismatch regardless of who's guarding him at any time. I truly think we're witnessing something truly special with him. There has never been anybody at his size with the offensive diversity that he has. I really believe he will play the Bird to LeBron's Magic. No offense to all the Kobe fans, but he's already played, what, 1000-1100 NBA games? How long do you think he'll be able to maintain the ability to play the game at his current level offensively and defensively? In comparison, Jordan hadn't played that many games til somewhere around Title #6.
  11. I'm going to make a few assumptions for this post: 1. That Fukudome has a nice rebound this season and performs close to some of the projections we've seen for him. 2. That Lou's serious about the possibility of moving Soriano out of the leadoff spot. 3. That Lou won't move Derek Lee out of the 3rd spot in the lineup. With all of that being said, I would like to see a lineup of: Fukudome/Johnson Soto Lee Bradley Ramirez Soriano Fontenot/Theriot Theriot/Miles VS. RH/LH I like that lineup because it keeps the high OBP guys that work counts in front of our power hotters. In a perfect world, I would move ARam to 3, Sori to 5, and Lee to 6, but alas, the world is not perfect.
  12. I think Soriano with a beard would be very reminiscent of Baron Davis.
  13. http://www.tbs.com/stories/story/0,,154864,00.html Day Date Game # Time Series 1) Weds October 1st # 1 1:30pm or 3:00pm NLA # 1 4) Thurs October 2nd # 2 1:30pm or 3:00pm NLA # 2 NLA = National League Division Winner versus Wildcard I got two tickets for Game 2 in the left field Bleachers in row 5 through the lottery. I'm not too worried about this because I'm sure once the matchups are set, the Cubs games will be in primetime because those are the games that will get the highest ratings, therefore making the broadcasting companies the most money. Either way, I'm not missing this game, regardless of the time it starts. In response the who asked the question, I too only entered my one personal e-mail address.
  14. Yeah, I got mine at about 9:05.
  15. I won too. Which game are you going to try to buy tickets for?
