Saints cut McAllister today.

Part of me is sad because his career was so short, but in actuality, he had a much longer lifespan than most running backs.

This is . . . . interesting news.

The Texans and Vikings are close to a trade that would send quarterback Sage Rosenfels to Minnesota, possibly for a fourth-round draft pick, the Houston Chronicle reported Monday.

Minny apparently has been hot after Rosenfels (according to this article) since last year. My question is, why?

He had a 66.7 completion % last year, but threw just 6 TDs and 10 INTs. And that was with Andre Johnson at WR. He's a nice backup, but giving up a fourth rounder makes me think they want him to start.

They'll want him to start. They wanted him last year to compete with Tarvaris but the Texans wanted a 2nd round pick.

I don't know. He's not good but I don't know if there are any better options for us. He's had decent numbers in stretches as a starter in Houston. I guess he'll be able to dink and dunk and complete a ton of passes.

From the bits I saw of him with the Texans, he's not the brightest QB out there. I'm not that sure he's significantly better than Jackson. I'd probably prefer to hope that Mark Sanchez or Josh Freeman fell to me than to use a fourth round pick to get a 30-year-old Rosenfels.

I've only seen him play a couple times so I just have to go off the numbers and what I've read. If he were any better he would have gotten a starting job at some point in 8 years.

Drafting a QB this year in the first-round just isn't a great fit when they all look like projects. The rest of the team is ready to win and has about a 3-year window with their defense, o-line and skill position players in their prime. Apparently they're thinking they can stumble upon the next Kurt Warner or something.

I still think Tarvaris can be alright but they have to just trust him and give him some freedom. He's shown in flashes that he has the skills. Crumbling in the playoff game probably sealed his fate though.

I've once again been sucked in by the combine coverage on NFL Network. It's so boring, and yet I still watch.

There's no way Aaron Maybin plays DL in the league. That guy has OLB written all over him. He was at least 30 pounds lighter than anyone else in his DL group.

I agree mostly, although if he were on the Colts he could play DL. He's actually slightly bigger than Robert Mathis and has a faster 40 time to boot, and Mathis with those limitations is one of the best pass rushers in the league.

But for most systems he will have no choice but to play OLB..although he has the height to grow into a little more weight if he's set on DL.

I've seen Sage fairly often and I've never been particularly impressed. My impression of him is he's an ok backup, but shouldn't really be a starter for any extended period of time. The Texans really had problems when Matt Schaub went down and Rosenfels replaced him.

And to me, Rosenfels is as much of a project as the QBs in the draft plus he's 30 years old. I'm not a big Chris Simms fan, but I'd probably take him over Rosenfels - especially considering Simms wouldn't cost a pick.

Lots of fairly big moves today:

James Harrison has not come to an agreement with the Steelers and will become a FA(though they'll keep negotiating as well).

Laveranues Coles was cut by the Jets. I really hope the Titans look into him, but I doubt they will.

Derrick Brooks, Cato June, Joey Galloway, Warrick Dunn and Ike Hilliard were all cut by the Bucs. That's a lot of names hitting the market in that group, though all but June are well into their 30s.

Harrison won't be a free agent until next offseason. He is just trying to get more money out of the Steelers right now with an extension.

Look at you, able to read and all.

I'll learn to read one day.

According to John Clayton, the Cowboys have made the decision to keep Terrell Owens.

Good. Now there's no temptation for the Titans to sign him.

With my luck, they'd have no interest in any high-priced WR except TO.

Weird, it says in your link that it's 27.5 mil over 5. I am wondering how much of that is guaranteed, though. We all know NFL contracts are just renewable one-years.

Albert Haynesworth signed 7/100 deal with the Redskins.

Link.

Yeah, it sucks, but that's A LOT of money.

And regarding your comment about Coles earlier, the Titans will sign Harrison and say they're set at WR. Book it. Why? Because our team is run by retards.

I don't even think they'll sign a WR. I tend to think Paul Kuharsky is right on this and we'll snag a mid-level WR like Lance Moore or Greg Camarillo and hope they pan out instead of going top flight with the WR.

Then we may draft one - I'm hoping they love Percy Harvin like Mike Keith has indicated.

Colts re-sign Jeff Saturday.

However, they didn't offer contracts to two of their top four linebackers.

Hagler isn't a surprise but the fact they didn't want to keep Keiaho for 1 million? I'm rather shocked by that. He had injury issues but was pretty decent when he was in there. I guess they decided they had 2 small outside linebackers and that Session was the better one.

Well, I've definitely moved LB way up the draft need boards. Right now, I have no idea how they are going to fill that spot. The only one I'd even consider on the roster is Wheeler, and I still haven't really seen him play.

Not offering Keiaho was pretty shocking. Right now the lineup is Bracket at Mike, Sessions at Will and Wheeler at Sam. There are really no other possibilities as I see it. And Wheeler is an unkown. There is basically no depth behind those three. Linebacker is now a pressing need.
