Figured I'd bump this back up to the top. The scouting combine begins tomorrow (Wednesday) and runs through next Tuesday, I believe.

That means we'll shoot for starting either Wednesday or Thursday of next week. All the teams have been filled, but if anybody is interested in joining a war room, there are still plenty of spots available.

Can't wait for the Combine to start.

Hopefully I'll be able to watch some. It runs right through the time I'll be at work.

Today was the first day of the combine workouts and a kicker, David Buehler from USC, benched 25 reps - better than a lot of offensive linemen.

Here are the top performers from day one of the combine.

Jared Cook (S Car) and Shawn Nelson (USM) both ran sub-4.6 40s as tight ends. Lydon Murtha (Neb) ran a 4.86 40 as an offensive lineman.

Travis Beckum (Wisc) and James Casey (Rice) each topped the TEs with 28 bench reps. Louis Vazquez (TTU) was the top o-lineman with 39 reps.

QBs, RBs and WRs will work out tomorrow (Sunday).

WR official 40 times at the combine:

Heyward-Bey, Darrius 4.30

Wallace, Mike 4.33

Knox, Johnny 4.34

Butler, Deon 4.38

Thomas, Mike 4.40

Underwood, Tiquan 4.41

Harvin, Percy 4.41

Byrd, Demetrius 4.42

Murphy, Louis 4.43

McKinley, Kenny 4.44

Brian Robiskie finished around a 4.5 and Heyward-Bey really impressed me. Hakeem Nicks pulled up with something wrong with his leg during one of the drills. I haven't heard if it's a cramp or what, though.

D-Will's times were pretty bad and he was gonna go the highest of the 3 PSU receivers in the draft. I wonder how badly this affects his draft position.

I hadn't heard much talk of him going in the first round before the combine - I don't think his stock dropped that much yet today.

Just an FYI, I've updated the thread title with the start date and the first post in the thread now has the official draft order and I've listed the amount of time between picks as 24 hours. If anybody has issues with any of that, let me know.

Defensive linemen and linebackers had their day in the sun at the combine today.

Michigan's Terrance Taylor had the most bench reps - 37. Texas' Roy Miller had 36 and Hawai'i's David Veikune benched 35 times.

Wake's linebackers were fast. Aaron Curry is at the top of the list with a 4.56 and Stanley Arnoux is behind him with a 4.61. Both play for Wake.

Here's the link.

boy i don't know what the hell to do with andre smith in this draft.

I think he'll drop, but his talent will keep him in the top 10. He's awesome.

yeah but you're not going to make it in the nfl without at least putting some effort into it. basically telling every franchise in the league to blow it out their ass at the combine is a huge red flag.

Actually, I always felt he was overrated by being mentioned as a top 5 pick.

I think he's one of the top tackles in the class - talent wise. I don't really have a problem with him projected in the top 5. Like Truffle's saying, that attitude could really hurt him, though.

He could still go at the top if he has a good pro day and smoothes things over with a team at the top (only takes convincing one team). However if he doesn't help anything at his pro day then I could see Oher going ahead of him and SMith going in the middle of round 1.

That's a possibility - and it'd be a steal if he gets his attitude right.

Pretty big if though.

This is a true point.

Today is the big day, my friends. With the end of the NFL combine comes the beginning of the NSBB mock draft.

I guess we'll officially kick things off at noon today, so at 12 p.m. EST, Cro Magnon and the Detroit Lions will be on the clock until he makes the pick or noon tomorrow.

Once someone makes a pick, it would be greatly helpful it the one who makes the pick would PM the next in line. The official draft order is in the first post of this thread. I'll PM Cro Magnon.

1) Detroit Lions - Andre Smith, OT, Alabama

obvious character issues aside, Smith upgrades a dismal team at two positions; the borderline useless LT Backus can move inside to G. Smith's talent put him in the top 5, and anybody the Lions pick are bound to have motivation issues regardless. i'll go for talent and rely on a coaching staff to inspire him.

but ideally, i'd just re-sign Orlovsky or take a flier on Vick and trade down, or even run out the clock and slide to #5 ala the Vikings and try to save 20 million.

Very interesting. I think Smith will end up in the top 10 due to talent, but 1 may be a bit too high. The Lions may take the risk, though.

reggiemiller rules and the Rams are now on the clock.
