I heard an analyst who thought Melton would be a better pick than Orakpo, based on dollar value. This could be interesting.

All I've got on Melton is that he must be extremely athletic for a DE, since he played RB at Texas for the first two years.

We definitely need to get athletic and quick on the defensive line.

Melton would have been there in the 5th. Some draft boards had him going in the 6th. Way too high. Where are they going to have him play, LB or end?

From SI.com

BIOGRAPHY: Former running back who moved into the starting lineup as a senior and then posted 29 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss.

POSITIVES: Relatively athletic defensive end with adequate size/speed numbers. Moves well on his feet, plays with balance, and fluid making plays in all directions of the field. Keeps his pads low to the ground, stays within his pass rush angles, and quickly gets into the backfield to disrupt the action. Works his hands throughout the play, and rarely off his feet.

NEGATIVES: Lacks top first-step quickness. Does not show a burst of speed. Raw at the position, and does too much thinking rather than playmaking.

ANALYSIS: After bouncing around as a reserve early in his Texas career, Melton may have finally found a home at defensive end. He possesses the build for a two-gap lineman, yet he is a developmental prospect who needs a lot of work on his overall game.

PROJECTION: Seventh Round

That analyst should be fired on the spot.

Cowboys take a QB. Interesting...

I hate Stephen McGee too. The papers have been reporting this for a couple of weeks, but I tried to just ignore it.

Good God, as bad as Johnson and the other guy were at backup last year, they had to take someone.

But the Cowboys have Kitna at back-up this year. So this guy is guaranteed to be the number three QB and will need to beat out Bollinger for that.

I think Dallas will deal Kitna as soon as some other team's QB goes down with an injury and needs a semi-competent starter.

We gave up Henry to get Kitna. Henry could have given us depth as safety and CB. I don't think the Cowboys deal Kitna unless they get a player better than Henry back. I think they wanted Kitna to prevent a situation like last season when Romo went down.

Can't believe they've ignored DB so far. DJ Moore was as close to a no-brainer as there was right there. I thought he would be gone by now, which is why I wanted the Bears to take him at 99 and take the chance Iglesias would still be there.

I think NY would have snagged him instead of a TE if he were still on the board.

Knowing what I know so far...

My 3 picks would've been.

1)Johnson S

2)Iglesis WR

3)Phillips ILB

Edit: for some reason I put Moore in there.

After reading this, I stand corrected. I thought he was a late 4th to mid 5th pick. I knew the Bears would pick him eventually, as they loved him at the Texas pro day. But yeah, they coulda waited til the 5th most likely.
