I sort of wonder if they are going to put up flags for the Central Division standings next to the scoreboard. I think that would be pretty neat.

And the best part would be after two straight wins if they take them down, put the Hawks flag above the Detroit flag and put them back up. =D>

Well kids... it's here.

Coming off an embarassing shutout but the Wings (in an incredubly chippy game even though the [expletive] Wings wouldn't drop the gloves), we need to come out strong and score early againsty Patrick Ro.....I mean Ty Conklin.... otherwise we're screwed.

Looks like I'm gonna be pretty late to this one, lol. My buddy's brother is working Level on Rush and we're getting free entry and drinks soooooo..... I don't think I'll even be awake until noon or later, thank GOD for Tivo!

I hope everyone has a safe and prosperous New Year!

As girly as the Wings were in tonight's game, I don't blame them for not dropping the gloves. They were inside the Hawks heads and they weren't going to give the Hawks an opening to get back into the game, by getting into a fight.

Having a few minutes to think back on it, I think you're right. It pissed me off that Stuart was too much of a pansy to dance after laying that questionable hit, but overall the Wings did the right thing. If it was the other way around I would have wanted the same thing.

As far as the WC goes, I'm sure Bettman has sent down a strict "no fighting" mandate to the teams. I'm sure he doesn't want this huge game turning into a brawl, awesome as I think that would be.

OK Don Cherry!! As much fun as the Joey Kocur/Bob Probert days were with the Wings, I would rather win the Cup. Not dropping gloves is not girly, especially if its just because the Hawks were mad about a couple of clean hits against Kane. If there was a dirty hit, than you have to pay the piper.

In the macho world of sports not dropping the gloves is considered "girly". But I also said I didn't blame your team for not dropping the gloves to a team clearly frustrated. (Hockey fan in me understands the Wings reluntance to drop the gloves, but the Hawk fan in me really wanted to see the Hawks beat the crap out of a Red Wing player.) I would have told the Blackhawks to not pick fights if the roles are revered.

Well, I guess beating the Wings arse at Wrigley and earning a split will suffice.

PS: I have no idea who is Don Cherry so.........I don't get that reference.

This isn't totally directed at you, it's more of a general rant, but why wouldn't you just google it?

I am not a hockey fan at all, but I am excited to watch this game. Mind if I jump on the Hawks bandwagon?

Bah, I never understood trying to take fighting out of the game to "appeal to the casual fan." IMO, fighting has always been one of the best draws for hockey to the casual fan. Not that I want a fight every 5 minutes, but I never agreed with the idea that taking fighting out of the game will make it more appealing.

They should let the game take place tomorrow as it normally would. If there's a fight, then there's a fight.

Absolutely. And if last night was any indication, the Wings won't throw down anyway. So no matter.

I'm trying to decide if I should wear my Hawks jersey or the Guinness Beer jersey I got for Christmas.

It would be nice to see an all-Canada Winter Classic next year. Montreal vs Toronto would be cool if there's a good venue.

Boston Montreal would be better. I like watching the Canadian teams and hope they do well, but I think you have to have an American team involved.

You could always do two, one on New Years and one on Super Bowl Saturday.

Awesome picks. I'm definitely not a hockey guy, but I'll be watching tomorrow for sure. One of the first ever hockey games I've been excited about.

Boston/Montreal in Montreal would be amazing.
