I guess I forgot to ask what Sean Avery has to do with the Winter Classic?

Hahaha this thread got off track in a hurry and I didn't even realize it... I guess I'll continue the discussion in the NHL 08-09 Season thread.

Maybe this will bring more love towards the sport of hockey here in Chicago?

How much are tickets going for? On eBay it's around $200 a pop.

I figured it would be more than that, given the face values of the tickets.

Is anyone else trying for tickets today? Even if I could get non-limited view seats in the $75 range, I'm not positive I'd go.

Is it going to be an online waiting room like Cubs tickets? Or is it just first come first serve?

I kinda doubt they'll use the VWR, but they might.

Just clicked on Jon's link and it put me in a virtual waiting room. Now what to do for the next half hour!

Thanks Jon for the opportunity! Doubt I will get through but this is cool none the less.

If you open up a crapload of windows, the issue will probably be not whether you get through, but whether you can get tickets that don't say "limited view" or "obstructed."

Here's the seating chart:

Why so much for UD? Do the limited view seats up there cost the same as the other seats?

That's the only place you'll actually be able to see the whole game. Sightlines are going to be terrible and a lot of folks are going to be disappointed. There will be jumbotrons for people to watch on too.

Great concept, but why the EFF did they choose to play it on the biggest college football day of the year? Soapdropping stupid.

Not really stupid. The only games being played during this game are Georgia/Michigan St and Nebraska/Clemson. The Outback Bowl will be nearing its end by then and the biggest game of the day starts after hockey. With the biggest bowl games no longer all being played on Jan 1, it's far less of a problem. You've got essentially the entire country sitting on their couches nursing hangovers and/or laziness and plenty of eyeballs available for viewing. I would like to see them try and do this either during the pre Super Bowl bye week, on Super Bowl Saturday, maybe even during Super Bowl pregames, or a week or two after the super bowl, when the sports world is dead.

I agree on the Super Bowl bye week or the day before the Super Bowl. That would be PERFECT.

Im getting no VWR from that link.

It was a VWR, but now it's not for some reason.

I'm getting nothing but VWR.

Edit: Ok, I get tickets.com that says use the link to buy now, but nothing is there.
