not if you read this board a year ago where illini fans (who all disappeared this year) called him an outstanding coach who would lead them to bigger and better things....like nowhere.

Wow, this isn't college, but South Panola High School, a 5A (largest division) school in MS, just had the nation's longest high school winning streak snapped in the State Championship game. They had won 89 consecutive games before tonight. If anyone read The Blind Side, Michael Oher comes from that school.

You realize just how awful we were before that? 5-7 is a smashing success.

I see similar optimism from those ranks about Bruce Weber. lol.

I thought Oher went to a school in Memphis.

You are right, I had a massive brain fart. I got him mixed up with Ole Miss' Peria Jerry (also expected to go in the 1st RD this year). Oher went to Briarcrest in Memphis, IIRC. South Panola is in a suburb of Memphis though.

I know Florida is clearly better than Alabama, but Alabama isn't horrible and they've been getting slighted all week despite being 12-0 and going through the SEC regular season unscathed. I have a feeling the game will be closer than people think with a sort of "everyone is doubting us" effect. I still think Florida will win though. I'll say 31-27 FLA

Tomorrow's Florida and Alabama game has some other Legend of Saint Tebow stuff attached.

T'was the Autumn of 2005. Hoover High of Alabama was supposed to be one of the best high school football teams ever assembled. They had a standout quarterback, a star receiver and studs across the roster. They even had a TV contract on MTV's Two-A-Days. In a game televised by ESPN, they played McNeese High School of Florida. McNeese had none of those, instead they had Tim Tebow. In a game witnessed by Hoover alum and current Crimson Tide John Parker Wilson, Tim Tebow showed the nation what he could do as McNeese upset and routed Hoover 50-29 by a sensational performance by Saint Tebow.

And the Legend of Tim Tebow grows...

All this e-felating of Tebow, and you can't even get his school right? It's Nease High School, not McNeese.

Poor Andy. I was cheering for Ball State because of him. But I really like the Buffalo story. So congrats to them.

if tebow can't beat michigan in an important game he has no chance against alabama.

ALABAMA 34 FLORIDA 14

(This isn't directed at you rocket, but unless you are being sarcastic, you are the only one who thinks Alabama can win)

All I know is this---craziness aside---is that Alabama plays a full "60 minutes of hell" kind of football. I promise everybody here---head is calm---Florida will have to match Alabama's physicality, to beat Alabama. I know Florida advantages, but I am putting my money on the better prepared team, and trust me when I say this, regardless of what you think of Nick Saban, nobody outworks Nick Saban. NOBODY. This isn't LSU, this isn't Kentucky, this isn't Arkansas, Florida facing. This is Alabama. Alabama isn't going to win with some pretty offense, they will win because they CAN bully any team in America. Alabama will win because they will control the LOS. The will beat Florida because Tebow and that offense will be on the sidelines moreso then the field. Yes, Florida is "pretty" and I know ESPN has gone gay for Tebow and whatnot, but let's face it, even Superman has a kryptonite. A kryptonite has a name: Nick Saban.

Florida may win, I will concede but anybody who thinks Florida is going to be blowing out Alabama is simply leaving in a la-la land of candy canes, unicorns and endless rainbows. The simple truth, Alabama IS 12-0 for a reason and not all of it being luck---cause if you say it's luck, then Florida is 11-1 can be said as being based on luck, like facing a Kentucky team ravaged by injuries basically due to the Alabama game, or Arkansas running out of gas---and the absuridity of Alabama being such a gross underdog is monumentally stupid. If anybody here is putting money on the game, put it on Alabama, cause come Monday you will be happy, cause they are not only going to beat the spread, they will be the Gators.

Alabama will show people why you don't underrate a team that is better then the sums of it's part.

Alabama will win 31-17.

Start crying, Alabama haters. Start crying.

Exhibit B as to why I hate the rest of the conference. Only someone like this Bammertard could ever make me utter the following words: Go Gators.

I will go shower now.

So I just drove 3.5 hours home from Detroit after the most soul-crushing night in my short time as an alum (B, I was on the sidelines so if you saw me it was only for fleeting seconds at the end of out of bounds plays), and I've come to the conclusion that Ball State did not play well.

All year their top strength was playing disciplined mistake-free football...10 turnovers all year, 5 tonight. 4 lost fumbles all year, 4 tonight.

There was a sketchy replay call before both the fumble scores by Buffalo - on one, MiQuale Lewis got a foot inside the pylon but didn't get the TD even after review, and on the other, Briggs Orsbon caught a pass but had it overturned on no evidence that I can see - but that's no excuse. Credit Buffalo, they didn't let us get away with those mistakes.

I have for a while now though had the opinion that something needs to be done about replay. I swear, every game I watch now there's at least one ridiculous replay reversal where the official in the booth completely ignores the 'indisputable evidence to overturn the call on the field' rule.

As for the bowl picture, we would've gone back to Detroit for the Motor City Bowl (they had first pick of MAC schools), but will now take Western or Central Michigan. GMAC in Mobile, Alabama, has the 2nd pick and will take us. Buffalo has already accepted a bid to the International Bowl in Toronto.

The only good news to come from tonight was that Nate Davis said in the postgame press conference that he would be returning next season. He claims he was never going pro, but I have to believe he wants to win the league title. BSU will probably be MAC favorites next year with Nate back.

That looked like a TD to me.

That looked like a TD to me.

And me. And the announcers. And since the original call was a touchdown they had no right to overturn it unless there was indisputable evidence that it was not a touchdown. And on the other play one angle made it look like the ball might have touched the ground before the receiver had control, but I didn't think it came close to being indisputable evidence to overturn the call. The officials stole one touchdown, and possibly another, from Ball State.

I hate zebras.
