Mark Prior, who had a second, less-invasive surgery on his right shoulder earlier this year, is in the midst of a throwing program and should be ready for the start of the 2009 season, said his agent, John Boggs. Prior is expected to file for free agency. "He said he feels good, that his shoulder has never felt better," said Boggs.

Prior, 28, was originally targeting May for his Padres debut. Then it was pushed to June, and then his season ended with more surgery. Last winter, at least ten teams contacted Boggs about Prior. Aside from the Padres, the most aggressive were the Astros, Cardinals, Mets, and Rangers.

That scares me to think of the Cardinals picking up Prior as a reclamation project.

At this point I hope he goes there and does well. I like the guy and think he got a terrible break. Would really like to see him succeed.

Between Carpenter, Mulder, and Clment, Im thinking that the Cards will be very gun shy when it comes to injury prone pitchers.

Why not if theirs is the best offer and its 500K? That's not a lot of money for the potential upside.

Let's resign h-

*gets shot*

My stupid brother wants to resign Prior. I think it's mainly because I bought him a Mark Prior autographed jersey a couple years ago and now he doesn't play for the Cubs so he wants it to be worth something again.

He also said that DeRosa sucks and we should get a replacement him, so yeah. He's a buffoon

He got a raw deal from the Cubs espec. from the medical staff, that bridhe has been burned with the Cubs, but I still think they are getting closer to repairing all the damage that was done and overlooked by the Cubs and initially by SD before this last operation.

I'm rooting for him regardless of organization.

I wouldn't mind resigning Prior and trying to bring him back as a reliever, a la Wood, and I was always pretty animate about getting rid of him when he was hurt.

But I'm sure the relationship between him and the Cubs is awful, so it's not something I expect at all.

If someone else is going to sign him for very cheap and have him work his way back up, then why not us. I have no problem with it simply because you are not planning to get anything out of it.

I wouldn't at all mind re-signing Prior. I loved the guy and I hated to see him go. His stuff is so nasty, I would be afraid of him coming back for some other team and dominating.

I would love to see Prior have ridiculous success, and I would love for the sixth consecutive off-season of optimism to finally be the one that isn't misguided. I would also like to see this happy ending occur with an American League ball club.

Or with DBR.

Just two years ago, who would have thought it'd be Wood, not Prior, who was set to cash in this offseason?

I wish him the best, but it's likely he'll go the way of the aforementioned Clement & Mulder.

Get your brother a DeRosa jersey. Problem solved.

It's funny that two organizations have now mishandled Prior. Makes you wonder if he's part of the problem.

I don't want a guy who squats to pee anyway.

If you know what I'm talking about and I'm sure you do.

I don't think SD mishandled him. I don't see how Prior could be the problem as far as them not being able to find all the damage in his shoulder. He just has made some bad adjustments mechanically and was worked too hard by Baker in '03.

I would resign him in a heart beat for 110,000 thousand a year, with our option
You do realize that 110,000 thousand is actually 110 million, don't you?
