I would fear that going to all 81 games would ruin the fun of going to a game. Having season tickets for the last 3 years for Iowa football and basketball has sucked the excitement out of going, granted it doesn't help that they aren't that great at either one but still.

I've been to Notre Dame and Ball State football and basketball games probably upwards of 80 times between them and have yet to lose the excitement out of any of them...

I do think 81 Cubs games would probably make it slightly less exciting though.

I guess I phrased that wrong, it is still exciting for me, I just don't get the little kid waking up on Christmas morning feeling.

That's because you can't compare going to 80 combined games between 4 teams over your life to going to 81 games of one team in 6 months.

You can if it's Ball State basketball.

DEAD TO ME

anyone on the list?? im on the list and my number has not changed for 3 years....i called the cubs and they told me something like MLB controlls the wait list, and its on them....but they never give me an option on who to call....just wondering if anyone else had any expericence with this.....

thanks--

Hi,

I have been on the list since 2004. I decided when I retired that I wanted to come up to Chicago for the summer and watch the Cubs so I called in for tickets. They told me they would call me back in a few days......which they did and they put me on the list. I am now #167 on that list and have moved up about 100 numbers. I am also going to be 69 years old next year......

I figure they wll continue to raise prices with such a huge waiting list until I finally will make it. Like most people I know who have season tickets, I will keep the games I want to go to and sell off the rest.

When I tried to get on the list originally they had partial packages like just weekend games, or weekday day games. They had to stop that practice because all season ticket holders were guaranteed playoff tickets and they were about to run out of seats. I have a friend who has a partial package in the grandstand but when he gets his playoff tickets he is in the bleachers.

Sometime after all the money is supposed to be collected (end of January) before they go on sale to the general public they notify the folks who have a shot at tickets. It will probably take another year or so...... I wonder if our chances will improve more if they win it all as opposed to going down in flames as they have done in the past.

Eventually they will continue to raise prices to the point that the bulk of the tickets will be owned by corporations, the average fan will no longer be able to afford it. They talked about how flat the crowd was at the first playoff game this year and I am not sure that was not a factor.

With some ~700 Tribster tickets opening up, someone like 5412 should get the call soon.

I'm somewhere around 2,600 now. Have any of you seen any movement?

Are any current season ticket holders seeing significant upgrade opportunities?

I know a lady that has season tickets in the bleachers and she offered to sell one to me this season as they are getting too expensive. I didn't have the extra cash and the commute from Texas was too much for me.

:bye:

Hi,

My number going into this off season is 60 so I would imagine I will get a call. It has taken me since 2003 to work my way down from 700 something.

FYI, as I recall the "call" will come via email. So keep a close eye on the account you have registered with the wait list.

Congratulations.

I just checked my current spot on the waiting list and I'm at 20,714. I'm sure I'll get the call any day now.

OK, so after reading this I decided to get on the wait list. I don't live in Chicago anymore, nor do I have the money. But the good news is I'm number 112,701. So maybe in another quarter centrury I'll be closer to Chicago and have some money . . . to take my grandkids to games!

After reading this thread, I can only hope that Cubs fans can make their place on the wait list part of their inheritance.

That way, your grandchildren may be able to take their grandchildren to games.

I'm in the mid-70,000 range. But I don't want to have tickets anytime soon and I sure wouldn't want them now. I'm hoping my number comes up sometime around 2030 and the Cubs are good and I can afford to buy the tickets and go to a bunch of games.

Hi,

Thanks for the tip on the email. I started watching the junk mail figuring that is where it would appear. Sure enough, today I got the email and within an hour we had two lower level seats in the grandstand. Not great seats but doable and we can likely move up from this point on.

Really appreicated the heads up on the email or I might have tossed it.....
