I'm assuming its going to be:

TV: Funk and Stacey King

Radio: Swerski and Wennington

It's hard to break up Funk and Wennington, but if they are keeping Stacey around, he is pretty much useless when not on TV.

That's what it will be according to ChicagoBulls.com.

I welcome the new Funk-King TV era.

I thoroughly enjoyed Neil Funk on the rare occasions I got to hear him over the last few years. I'll like this team.

Ty Lawson would be an excellent fit for D'antoni IMO.

It would be a bit of a reach from the pot you guys are probably going to be picking from. But if you guys could package a group of players for a late first round pick, Lawson would be excellent.

Lawson would be a good fit. I do think the Bulls are going to go after a legit PG this draft, either way unless a big man they can't pass up falls in their laps.

thank god! wayne larivee was beyond awful

Adios to "RrrrrrING IT UP!" and "By the SLIMMEST of MARGINS!" ... not quite the basketball equivalent to "SWUNG ON AND BELTED!" but still cringe-inducing.

not to mention "A Foul Coming Up" and "DAGGER!"

Paxson needs to get over himself. IMO, if he passes up the chance to get D'Antoni b/c he's not Skiles-esque in terms of discipline, he is the worst GM in town.

That said, why even interview the guy if you are worried about those issues? Even a casual NBA fan could tell you that D'Antoni is pretty much the polar opposite of Skiles (which is why I want him).

As for the Knicks job, D'Antoni would have to be crazy to go there if the Bulls offer him the job. The Knicks will be in salary cap hell for at least another two years.

The next Knicks coach is likely doomed. They'll have to burn through a coach while they straighten out the roster, then the coach after that might have a chance.

Bulls job is far and away more attractive.

They're over the cap, but they seem content on paying the Luxury Tax for years and years and years. Therefore, it doesn't really matter if they're over the cap or not.

According to a poster on RealGM, the sports guy on NBC 5 in the afternoon said that the Bulls were prepared to interview Avery Johnson in the coming days.

I really don't think Paxson left his interviews with D'Antoni with any such qualms. I think Mike is his guy at this point.

The issue really is whether or not Reinsdorf opens up his pockets. We've heard his stance on paying coaches in the past, but if he really wants to inject some enthusiasm back into this franchise and it's fan-base, Pringles is the guy to do it.

It keeps them from adding free agents seeking more than the MLE, doesn't it?

I always thought that as long as they paid the luxury tax, they could still do whatever they wanted. They do most of their acquisitions through trades anyway, so maybe that's where the luxury tax thing comes in.

I'm pretty sure the luxury tax only pretty much only comes into play when you're re-signing your own players and go over the tax threshold.

You can't go over the cap to sign free agents coming from other teams. That's why sign and trades get worked out.

I'm hoping for D'Antoni. I do think both Avery and Mike have a tendency to get badly outcoached in the playoffs, however. I still think D'Antoni is the best option for this team, at this time.

1) A free flowing offense that suits our youth/athleticism.

2) A way to get our big men flowing towards the rim without resorting to isolation.

3) An attractive brand of basketball for the fans, players, and potential free agents.

I am not sure of Hinrich's ability to be a lead guard under D'Antoni. He doesn't have Nash's handles, shotmaking ability, or vision. I think bringing D'Antoni into the fold makes drafting a PG a very viable option. I think the shooting guards I've been hoping for (Mayo, Gordon, Westbrook, etc.) are less attractive if D'Antoni is here. A dynamite PG who will push tempo becomes crucial.

Westy should be a solid point in 2 years. Perfect fit for D'Antoni's offense. He has better vision than Collison does, he's only played PG for 1 year though.

I love Westbrook's game. As a USC alum I must admit that he may even surpass Mayo as a pro (who I believe will be very good).

But I don't see him being a point guard in the NBA. I do think he has the game to be an adequate point guard but I like him as an off guard in an up tempo scheme, ala Monta Ellis. I still think he could fit in very well for the Bulls given his athleticism and defense.

Howland really should've stuck Westbrook on Rose rather than let Collison get dominated.

Yes. And Luc on Douglas-Roberts. Howland said that it was a mistake he'd regret to his grave. :(

And another SC alum? Ugh, that's 3 on this board.

I'll preface my post by saying that I have been hard on Paxson as any other Bull's fan of late...that being said...I'm pretty sure if this deal falls through..it is on Reinsdorf. The man is truley a plague on this franchise. This is the same cheapass that told Michael Jordan to his face...how much he regretted paying him that record 30 million dollar deal.

On realgm, I read a rumor that the Bulls "supposedly" made an official offer today, and NY is out of the running...they are focused on Mark Jackson and Avery Johnson.

I'm comfortable with D'Antoni for now. At least he has good experience dealing with superstar players like Nash. If this is true, then the next step would be for Pax to actually acquire the freaking superstar.

The Bulls won't be able to get a superstar until their piece of sheet owner mans up and pays the luxury tax. At least with Pringles there is a good chance the value of the current assests on this team skyrocket.

I highly doubt the Bulls will come close to matching $6 million a year for a coach. In fact, take it to the bank. There's no chance the Bulls offer him more than $6 million.

So it's going to come down to D'Antoni taking the money from the Knicks or the better fit for his coaching career. I'd be highly surprised if he chose the latter. Bring on Avery.
