Nothing like seeing the manager and pitching coach come out to argue about the location of a pitch 2 pitches later. And see a pitching coach ejected from the dugout.

Nice win for the Rays, they needed it.

While I was rooting for TB to show up in the playoffs, I cannot understand rooting for them to win. Every time a team like that wins. people harass Cub fans more. Go Phillies.

If they do, I don't notice it. We get harassed anyway. I'd rather not see Boston in another WS for awhile. That's about the only reason I can muster to even watch a few minutes of this series.

I'm only listening to the radio but Fenway sounds so miserable.

The Rays basically silenced that crowd with that 3rd inning, Lester had to keep going to his FB b/c he fell behind many of the RH'ed hitters and he didn't locate his FB well in those counts, although Evan's was on 2-2 FB that was up and middle when it was supposed to be low and away.

I'm glad Garza had enough command of his FB to keep them guessing as far as which side of the plate that FB is going to be. Boston's bats looked a tick slow tonight.

It'll be interesting tomorrow as both teams will have completly opposite styles of pitchers compared to today with Wakefield and his obvious knucleball and Sonnastine who seldom touches 90 but locates well with a good curve, Sonnanstine prob. has the biggest balls of any Rays pitchers too.

So, should the Rays win and make the WS that's going to leave the Mariners as the last expansion team to not make the WS since the Cubs last trip in '45, right? Anyone want lay odds that the Mariners will make to the WS before our Cubs?

No, 3 teams have never been to World Series outside of Tampa. The Mariners as you mentioned, along with the Washington Senators/Texas Rangers franchise and the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals franchise

Edwin Jackson would make for a very effective late inning reliever.

Methinks Boston and especially David Ortiz is missing Manny Ramirez more then they are letting on. Jason Bay is a fine player and has play well for Boston since the trade, but Jason Bay is NO Manny Ramirez and because of this fact TB has been able to neutralize Ortiz. And without Ortiz hitting, the Red Sox offensive is simply mediocre despite some intriguing talents.

I won't say this series is over, because of last yr, but if Ortiz don't start hitting then BoTox season will be over soon.

They're not missing Manny at all. Manny wouldn't be doing in Boston what he's doing in LA had he not been traded.

I disagree. Without Manny, teams can and will pitch around David Ortiz whose career was made by hitting before Manny. Say what you want about Manny, but he added a swagger you don't see with the Red Sox right now. And I promise with Manny, they wouldn't be down 3-1.

Thanks, I had forgotten about the Washington Senators/Texas Rangers franchise and the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals franchise, so, maybe there is a chance the Cubs will make it to the WS before every expansion franchise.
