For me, it's listening to the "I knew they were going to choke in the playoffs, they're the Cubs. I told you that was a better team."

That gets REAL old for me, especially coming from Astros fans. Um, what exactly has your team ever won?

That BS is getting real tiresome for me, wait till next season' playoffs when we'll read and hear crap about how despite being the best team in the 2008 NL they couldn't manage a playoff win, etc.

The worst part will come of the White Sox manage to get past Tampa, and the media who has loved the Cubs all season and waited for the White Sox to collapse will be talking about how resiliant the White Sox have been while the Cubs did nothing but let their fans down as usual.

There have been more than 1 team with the best record who lost in the 1st round. Funny how we don't hear anything about those clubs right now. I believe the Braves in '03, when we bounced them. Weren't the Randy Johnson Stros also tops in the NL? I don't think it's all that unusual, yet you would think it's never happened before.

I think the way we lost is pretty unusual. We didn't even win a game. How many team with the best record in their league got swept?

Does it matter. Would it be any less of a kick in the nuts if they lost in 5?

FTR, either 1 or 2 best teams in the league have been swept before. And as I mentioned elsewhere, teams with better records have losing records in divisional serieses. Same with teams with HFA.

A pennant. Three years ago, in fact.

If they had played 5 good games with everyone playing at the level we know they can, and the Dodgers simply beat them, yeah, it would still suck, but it wouldn't hurt nearly as bad. We gave those first two games away and didn't show up for the 3rd.

Does for me. At least we gave ourselves a chance to beat them. Grabbing our ankles like the way we did is flat out embarrassing.

And how many World Series games did they win? The same number the Cubs have won in the past 60 years or so.

The worst part is that I truly believe that they should have, and could have, done it this year. I cleared my October calendar! I'll get over this, but I feel no great hopes for next year, and that, to me, is the worst part.

The worst part, thus far, has been the know-it-all Sox fans that think backing into the playoffs on game 163 is somehow better than the Cubs having the best record in the NL and winning the division a week before the season ended.

Also, those same Sox fans look at their one win (so far) as better than the 2005 WS because the Cubs didn't win at all.

The worst part is that no one will remember the 2008 Cubs as the best team in the league because they didn't get it done when it mattered. It's that very few Cubs fans will look back at the 2008 season the way the first 161 games went, they'll look at the last 3. The worst part is that the same team that inspired us to say, so many times, "I love this team!" did nothing to inspire it when it counted.

Unfortunately it is better. We won 0 games in October, and they've won 1 and counting. I hate to admit it, but its completely true.

It's completely untrue. People used to celebrate division championships. People used to be proud of a great regular season. Don't let TV convince you that this team wasn't special and didn't accomplish something.

We accomplished something sure. I'll look back at the regular season fondly. But the White Sox have accomplished more in their season, having won more postseason games than the Cubs did.

The White Sox accomplished more in their postseason. They have not accomplished more in their season. I don't even think I'd give a team an advantage based on playoffs unless they went to the world series.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but unless the Dodgers win the NL, I'd say the Cubs accomplished more this season. They don't fly flags for Divisional Series wins.

It's bad enough when the idiots make dumb arguments about why teams win, but I can handle those a little better when we win.

The worst part is that for the first time in my life (20 years), I am not excited about next year. This one's going to take awhile for me. In 2003 I had gotten my first real taste and I was pumped about it coming again next year. I haven't had that taste since. This time was just too much. I'll come back, trust me, but it's the first time ever that I wasn't immediately thinking about next year. How can I hope for another division title right now? I feel like the only thing to hope for (when it comes to baseball, I have a life) is Game 1 of the 2009 NLDS. And that, is sooooo far away.

Depends on what the Cubs do in the winter. I could see being excited by the time '09 rolls around. It just depends.

Like I've said, you have to keep getting into the playoffs over & over. Eventually you'll win. Part of the problem is that Cubs fans always feel like if they don't win this year, they'll have to wait another 10, 15 years for their next shot. Be a playoff team every year, and that anxiety will vanish. And with the resources at our disposal, there's no reason we shouldn't be a playoff team many more years than we have been in the past.
