Per Paul Sullivan...

According to Cubs general manager Jim Hendry, the Cubs and Astros will play a doubleheader Sunday and the series finale on Monday, an off day for both teams. The sites of those games will be determined over the weekend and depend on the severity of the storm.

The Cubs will return to Chicago after Thursday night's game in St. Louis rather than travel to Houston and hold a workout at Wrigley Field on Friday. If possible they could return to Houston to play the series or travel to a neutral site, like Atlanta, Tampa Bay or Washington.

The Houston Texans' home opener against Baltimore has been moved from Sunday (3 pm CT) to Monday night.

Am I the only one that thinks this isn't the worst thing in the world? 2 (or 3) straight days off in the middle of September could be a pretty good thing, especially for guys like Ramirez, Soto, and Marmol.

But jamming tons of games into a stretch of less days is bad in the middle of September is bad.

Why should the Astros have any say in this? Selig should just take control and move the damn series.

Please don't hold it in TB, that joke of a stadium.

Bruce mentions that Atlanta has been discussed and that Houston didn't want to use St. Louis since the Cubs were already in town and they believed that would give the Cubs an unfair advantage.

Yes, because we all know that the Cubs just love having to play in the Cardinals' home field for 6 straight games! [-(

The Astros have a say because they are the home team. We may not like it, and we may think it's stupid of them not to go ahead and move the series, but as home team they should have a great deal of input in where they choose to play.

Neutral sites, such as St. Louis, Milwaukee and Atlanta also have been discussed, but nothing has been firmed up. Word is the Astros don't want to come to St. Louis and use Busch Stadium because the Cubs already are in town, and that would give them an advantage over the Astros, who would have to travel from Houston. Cubs fans also could turn Busch Stadium into a home-field atmosphere as well.

This part is pretty funny. I love how the Astros don't want to play at Busch because the Cubs could turn it into a home-field atmosphere but they're discussing Milwaukee and Atlanta as well. Like the Cub fans wouldn't outnumber Astro fans in those places as well, especially Milwaukee.

I was assuming the Cubs would be pressured to maintain a shred of integrity for those games. I guess Randy Wells could pitch instead of Lilly and someone else instead of Marshall.

Not a lot of precident for it I guess. Has their ever been a team thats already locked up their playoff spot forced to play a makeup game again a team trying to clinch a playoff spot?

Not a lot of precedent for three games being made up after the season, but lots of precedent for teams clinching early and pitching minor leaguers down the stretch to set their rotations for the playoff. Don't see how this hypothetical scenario would be any different. But it doesn't look like it's going to be necessary anyway.

Yeah, pretty much anywhere else they'd go would be a home field atmosphere for the Cubs.

Cancelled my hotel for Saturday. Guess I'll just have to wait to use the tickets or get a refund, depending on whether or not they decide to play the games at a later date, or move to a different location. I had front row seats in sec. 254

Can we please get a logistical expert @MLB(that actually has a pair) in place for these kind of things? This is [expletive]. Everyone has knew about this Hurricane path for over a week now, and we are still hem hahahaing around? IS it even a guarentee that the games will get in this weekend?

This should have been taken care of days ago, with the game at a nuetral site, and the revenue would have been kicked back to Houston. I can't wait till Selig is gone..then maybe things can get done.

I saw that MLB.com ruled out Milwaukee

We're going to outnumber Astros fans in friggin Timbuktu. Might as well rule out EVERY non-Houston city.

Heck we might outnumber them in Houston. Astros fans aren't going to see baseball games in this crap. They have enough trouble getting their fans out to the ballpark when it's Sunny & 80. Meanwhile Vance is debating driving through a hurricane to see his Cubs. The Stros are just being stupid.

I called a friend in Houston and she's riding out the storm. She says they are predicting some bad howry there and doesn't see how they will even play on Sunday. We'll see....

I wouldn't mind sending Howry on a private jet to Houston and let him ride out the storm alone.

I've read a few places that part of the reason they aren't beginning the series tomorrow somewhere at a neutral site is that the Astros didn't want to leave their families behind during a hurricane.

That makes sense to me as aggravating as it can be to the Cubs.

That makes sense, but trying to fly another team into the city to play does not.

What's the status of Houston? I would hope that a major league organization could assist in arranging transportation and accommodations for families as well as players if evacuation is urged.
