Here it is 2:15AM CST, on the Saturday that Ike is now landfall, and nothing official has been set up on playing this series... either Sunday/Monday or following the regular season.

Screw you, Bud. Screw you. [-(

CNN's reporting 1.3 million people are without power in and around Houston.

Something tells me this series isn't going to happen in Houston this weekend.

I don't care if Ike had of shifted off course and mostly missed Houston at the last possible moment, Selig should have moved this series to a safer locale anyways; and should have made that call when it first appeared that Houston would if not be directly in Ike's path, then very close to (which, if I'm not mistaken, was early Thursday sometime, if not before that). This is all on him.

I blame McLain to a point, but it really falls to Bud.

At this point, I just want the game played, but 7 of the last 16 games at Miller Park?

No thanks

What's the 7th game? And would somehow 3 at MMP and 3 at Miller Park is out of the last 16 is better? I would much rather play the Astros at MMP then in Houston. Not that it matters much - Cubs will take 2 of 3 one way or the other. Just hope Lou does the smart thing and starts Marshall in one game of the double header rather than sticking with the regular rotation and pitching someone on short rest later.

If there's one constant about message boards, it's that posters want to know and they WANT TO KNOW RIGHT NOW.

If the decision is made on Saturday afternoon, with sufficient time for games to be played on Sunday and Monday, has anything really been lost? Of course not.

I'm utterly astounded by the collective whining in this thread about when and where baseball games are going to be played.

Selig is one of the biggest wussies in sports commissioner history. Has he ever stepped up and taken charge in any situation? For crying out loud Congress is the one who make him do anything about steroids.

My guess would be a plane could get out of Houston tonight, the question is going to be if the players can make it to a plane.

Bingo. It will be days before fans could make it to Minute Maid. Astros games at the Astrodome were rained out because localized street flooding made the dome inaccessible. If any of you have Direct TV,, tune to channel 361. That has the KHOU coverage of the storm damage.

If Brewer fans came to the games, I have to think they would be rooting for the Cubs these days.

I would enjoy the psychic pain that will cause. Imagine those beer heads having to root for the Cubs in Miller Park. Priceless.

Minute Maid Park appears to have survived Hurricane Ike with only minor water damage at Union Station.

The stadium is ready for use whenever it's safe enough to play a game downtown.

``I feel really relieved,'' said Bobby Forrest, Astros vice president of building operations. ``A lot of unknowns were answered.

``You know, if we had to play baseball tonight and the storm was gone, we would have been able to play baseball tonight.''

Way to have your priorities in order there Bobby!

90% of the Houston area is without electricity, however downtown and the Medical Center areas are ok due to underground lines.

Link.

CenterPoint Energy said about 90 percent of its roughly 2 million customers were in the dark before daybreak even as the storm continued to pack a 100 mph punch with the eye still near Kingwood as of 6 a.m. That means nearly 4.5 million residents were without power and doesn't include the service area of Entergy Texas.

My guess is McLain will try to play these games in Houston. No one will be able to get

to them to attend, but he'll keep his gate.

If they announce these games are being played, I'm calling the Astros to ask them the safest route into the city so I can come and see what they tell me in regards to my tickets.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid - but Selig likely wishes only the best for his Brewers. It's pretty shocking that a decision hasn't been made by now, and I don't think that it's simply due to McLane. Selig is the one who could immediately stop the delay in finding a site.

By allowing McLain to delay the final decision on the Houston-Chicago series, isn't it really Selig -screwing over- the Astros and Cubs ... in favor of his Milwaukee Brewers? If this didn't involve the NL playoff race, it's quite possible that Selig would've made his decision by now - but it's not in the Brewers' best interest for him to do so.

I think it may be just the opposite. If Selig decides to move the games to the end of the season, it's very likely that the Cubs will have alreadly clinched the division and will be fielding a team full of minor leaguers for the make-up games. If the Astros are still in the Wild Card race at that time, it would give them a decided advantage.

You are being paranoid I think. They were just talking about that on AM 1000 though. I mean Selig grew up watching the Cubs, I think its stupid to think he's using his commish powers to favor the Brewers. He's just a horrible commish.

You're right. Thanks for knocking some sense into me. =)

Reliant Stadium damaged; Monday's game is off

The Houston Texans will not be playing their home opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night at Reliant Stadium.

The game was supposed to have been played at 7:30 p.m., but Hurricane Ike has caused damage to the stadium that has made it unsuitable for hosting the game.

``The facility will not be usable,'' said Shey Guinn, president of SMG, the company that manages Reliant Park.

``There's some structural damage to the roof. Part of it is off,'' Guinn said.

``There's also some other damage on the property caused by wind and water. We're in the process of assessing the damage,'' he said. ``As far as the game being postponed again or played, that will be up to the NFL.''
