Well this is the week I find out if Purdue can do something special in Tiller's last year or if its another 7-5 season.

No point in getting your hopes up for anything better than that. While Purdue's defense actually looks a little better this year (that's not saying much), they aren't a big-play defense that's going to force a lot of turnovers. The receivers might be a little better than I thought coming into this season, but collectively, they're worse than last year's group. They also lost one of their key running backs to injury.

A 7-5 season might not be a bad guess, even if they do somehow happen to pull out a win against Oregon.

Nervous about KU @ South Florida. 1st road game, young offensive line, short week....

i'm a little shaky about this week too (I always am on long road trips).

I think we win, and we're clearly the better team, but I worry about what someone like Locker will do to our defense. We have a habit of letting guys like him just take over a game.

You should handle them easily even if the game is in Seattle. Locker is a talent but he doesn't have many weapons surrounding him and your team speed and strength in the trenches should be able to dominate.

any hope of making it to a mnc game rest with the d-line. i dont like our linebackers at all and our DBs are only slightly above average.

luckily our line is so good that it improves the rest of the d by quite a bit

but locker is the type of qb that gives a venables d fits, because once he rolls out our zone defenses will just fall apart like always. i like venables but when we're in a zone, i always feel vulnerable

Honestly, you guys are so much better than U-Dub that you could let Locker run all over you (he will have a good game but I don't think he can take over which is their only chance at stealing the game) and still win convincingly.

Their defense won't have a chance against Bradford and the other weapons.

honestly, that fact is what let me sleep at night before the cincinnati game.

this might honestly be the best offense OU has ever had, and that's saying something since we had adrian peterson, mark clayton and jason white all on one team.

Not used to finding that out before October, eh?

Here's something that I found interesting--the 10 teams that have bullied patsies most often over the last 10 years. Three guesses as to the conference that has the most entrants in that top 10 list.

Although, Minnesota has apparently only played 2 BCS non-conference opponents over the past 10 years, which is frightful. Then again, the way they've played the past few years, they really don't need to be making the schedule more difficult.

Minnesota used to beat up on cup cakes and then go into big ten play with a good record but then do nothing in conference. Now there is no reason for them to be playing anyone good out of conference.

to be fair to Kansas, they were actually losing some of those games for a while and were just trying to play people they had a chance against. 1996-2006 was a pretty lean time for KU football, with a couple of exceptions.

I have no problem with this seasons OOC schedule. USF on the road. And La Tech is the kind of mid-level WAC team that can jump up and bite you now and then. FIU is a joke. Same with Sam Houston St.

I posted this in last weeks college football thread yesterday. They also had this article about the teams that play the most BCS schools.

The big flaw in both is that it doesn't consider the level of competition a team is playing outside of separating between BCS and non-BCS (i.e. playing Minnesota = playing Ohio State since they're both BCS schools) but it's still interesting.

Yes, that's a flaw. There's also a chicken-egg argument where that is concerned.

I'm looking forward to Mizzou getting into the top 5.

Sweet, there's more of us!

one more victim

Damn...

I'm just kidding. getting past texas, ttu and osu will be tough in its own right, and i imagine our (potential) game will be something like 60-50, could go either way.

Your boys beat a very good team pretty soundly. IMO the biggest problem OU has is when they get punched in the mouth, how they will react. They've always done a nice job when they are in control and cruising but if it gets tough and they still come back and win, then they're a top 2 team. Unless of course they blow everyone out but you've said they don't have the defense for them to do that so I don't think that will happen.

Anyone who is interested in the snoozefest that is Michigan/Notre Dame needs to have themselves examined.

Have they ever played this game when both teams are not ranked or did that happen last year?

Big game this week for the Badgers, traveling out west to play under the lights at #21 Fresno State. I'm thrilled that it's on the deuce.

Let's win this game the only way we know how: get physical at the lines.

F'em Bucky.

Yes, Wisconsin plays Ohio State, Penn State and Illinois all at Wisconsin this year.

Oklahoma and USC are in the same situation. They're both clearly better than anyone on their schedule(including OSU and anyone from the North OU would play in the B12 title game). The problem is they run into an injury that derails them(USC) or a hostile environment where they play stupid until halftime and can't come back(OU). If you're playing either that's all you can hope for, because if they decide to play well then you're going to lose handily. No one else is in that situation. Georgia's not that much better than the rest of the SEC, LSU and Florida aren't as good as them, Mizzou's not at that tier, and OSU isn't up with any of those teams.
