Surprised the Nats would deal Lannan, he's been really consistent for them this year. I'm betting they got alot for him.

The problem is that the White Sox don't have anything to deal really.

It's appearing that this deadline day could end in a fizzle.

Pudge and Griffey count as big names being moved, but neither are impact players at this point in their careers.

Well this year 2 huge names (Sabathia and Harden) were dealt way before the deadline and Teixiera was dealt a few days before.

True. The biggest two deals were done early this year.

From Jayson Stark's blog, it looks like Maddux isn't going to the Dodgers.

Maybe Greg Maddux isn't going to wind up back with the Dodgers after all. The Dodgers and Padres have always been uncomfortable making deals with each other. And with 90 minutes left until the deadline, they've been unable to reach agreement on a trade that would send Maddux back to L.A., the only team he has told the Padres to which he would approve a deal.

One source familiar with the two clubs' discussions say the $3.3 million remaining on Maddux's salary this year is not a major issue. But the Dodgers have been unwilling to make anything beyond a modest offer, obviously because they're clearly aware they're the only taker.

I thought this was funny on rotoworld.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Jays' bid for Jason Bay consisted of one phone call in which the Pirates asked for something so excessive that no further talks were needed.

That'd be a good trade for the Rays.

He's been able to stay healthy this year and always has had good stuff (#3 starter ceiling), just caught in a numbers game in TB. I doubt TB would trade both Davis or Hellickson with Brignac.

And a big round of applause around the league goes to the pirates. Oh how the tables have turned.

I was really worried that the Cards would find a way to get Bay, so this is a win-win. Not going to them and also not in Pittsburgh anymore either.

Is Brignac still a can't miss ss prospect? I thought he was a priced piece in the Rays system.

2007 and 2008 have taken a little luster off, but it's not like he hit poorly for a SS, and he's still only 22.

Thanks, I know the Rays are loaded on prospects. Would it be safe to assume that they are pitching loaded? I know of Price and Hellickson.
