5 minutes ago ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNnews all had Favre stories on. Mike and Mike have spent the vast majority of the past two days talking Favre while at the same time saying we realize people are sick of the story but it is big news. No, it's not big news because there hasn't been any news. It's a story at intermission. There's nothing to say about it.

So far ESPN has talked about the Manny situation, but just put up a graphic with trade rumors. One of the rumors was Dunn to the Rays. Another was Maddux to the Dodgers.

That would be a great pickup for the Rays if they can get it done.

Word today is that the Reds are asking for A LOT. The Rays have a lot to give up, but Heyman said the Reds wanted Niemann AND Hellickson. Thatd be quite a haul.

What a huge surprise. They have spent the first 25 minutes talking about the Red Sox and Yankees.

The Yankees and Red Sox are both in on Scott Eyre, according to ESPN's Jayson Stark.

The Cubs are willing to move him and probably aren't asking for a lot. Still, he's not any team's preferred option for a lefty specialist. That's why he's available in the first place.

Caught the tail end of Gammons and he said that Ibanez's price was too high for the Mets and DBacks but that the Cubs still thought it was possible to get a deal worked out today for him.

Think this have anything connection with his lack of use since his return from the DL?

No kidding. Is Neal Cotts our lefty specialist then?

ESPN's Jayson Stark said an official with one of the clubs said the three-team Red Sox-Marlins-Pirates deal is dead.

According to Stark's source: "The Pirates are blaming the Marlins. The Marlins are blaming the Pirates. And the Red Sox aren't too happy with either of them." We fully expect another update five minutes from now saying a deal is nearly done.

The Score 670 Chicago reports that the White Sox are close to acquiring John Lannan from the Nationals.

It's unknown just who the Chicago would be sending over in the deal, but this is Jim Bowden we're dealing with so anything is possible. Lannan is arbitration eligible through 2013, and he can keep the ball on the ground, which would make him a nice fit in Chicago.

While theres no demeand for old, bad righties, there is some demand for old, mediocre lefties, plus we have 2 lefties in the pen who Lou trusts more.

The odds of Dunn getting traded just dropped with Griffey being shipped, despite Cincy being better off unloading him as well.

Jocketty is out of his mind if he thinks he can get Hellickson and Neimann for Dunn.

Haha. They're struggling to fill the broadcast. They've already run out of things to talk about.
