I would vote against it. We get so little traffic over there. The minor league game threads here put those game threads to shame last time we tried it.

I vote for it. We can't give up the fight. The posters that do post there even now (jersey, minnesota, etc) provide great analysis and its contained in one forum without other fans chiming in and making fun of us. It's going to be a year when I want to talk bears in peace.

We'll see what happens next week, but sheesh. This defense should be able to be blindfolded and be better than they've been. Yes, I know it's preseason but still. I don't recall our D looking this horrible even in preseason.

I heard Saturday will be out for the Colts too. They're like a M.A.S.H. unit over there. We think we've got it bad.

I still like the idea of a "Other Chicago Sports" sub-forum here that could contain Bulls/Bears/Blackhawks discussion

You may have awful taste in weather, but that's basically what I'd like to see, as well.

I like having it here. I don't care about other NFL fans rubbing it in. The only people with legit claims over the Bears now are Patriots, Colts and Giants fans, and the only one of them represented is a Colts fan and he's a good guy.

Charles Tillman is holding a 1:30 PM press conference today from Children's Memorial Hospital and will be accompanied by doctors. That doesn't sound good.

It's about his daughter who had a heart transplant July 31 (according to trib article). I had read that there was some personal stuff going on, but never heard any specifics until this morning. I hope it's about her recovery process...

Yeah. Didn't someone say something on here a couple of weeks ago that the transplant didn't take? He's going to be talking about his foundation for whatever is going on, as well, so it's probably still serious. But we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Trib[/url]"]"Never in a million years I thought my daughter would have to have a heart transplant. Probably the toughest thing that I had to battle with . . . is that I knew in order for my daughter to live another kid had to die," Tillman said at a news conference with doctors and Coach Lovie Smith.

After being taken by helicopter to Children's Memorial Hospital in May from their Chicago home, Tiana spent three months in the hospital suffering from cardiomyopathy--an enlargement of the heart that prevents proper beating. After receiving a heart transplant in late July, Tiana, now 6 months old, was released to her home Monday, Tillman cheerfully announced.

"My daughter is alive and well and doing great," Tillman said. "Smiling and kicking and cooing, all that stuff 6 month olds are supposed to do."

Doctors said Tiana's treatment was also a historic medical achievement for the area, as the first child in Illinois helped by an experimental blood-pumping device, known as a Berlin Heart. The device, a series of tubes connected to the heart powered by pumps that sit outside of the body, helps patients survive long enough for a suitable heart donor to be found, said Carl Backer, surgical director for heart transplantation at the hospital.

Tiana was the 160th child helped by the device in the United States. The Berlin Heart has yet to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Tillman said that it was difficult to balance football and worrying about his daughter over the summer, including during training camp and preseason games.

"I tried to not let this overcome me, because I knew I had a job to do and season was coming up," Tillman said. "Did I want to just like quit and give up and just be here all the time and just be with her? Oh, definitely. This is my daughter, man, I only had her 3 months."

Great news.

Bazuin to be released too.

McGowan demoted, Payne starting safety. Ok that one was a surprise to me.

its interesting Bazuin wasnt given more of a chance when guys like Bradley seem to hang around forever and produce only marginally more.

No kidding. It's not like Bazuin lacks talent.

well, I realized I should clarify. I'm not sure I think alot of Bauzin, but defensive guys seem to have a much shorter rope in Chicago. Its as if the coaching staff/mgmt (Turner, Angelo, I'm looking your way) has no idea how to judge talent and thus hangs on to as many pieces as possible...as long as possible.

Wow. I thought McGowan was pretty good in the last 1/2 of the season last year. He was pretty good in the 1st preseason game too. Nobody on the D has been impressive much this preseason. I don't know how Payne beat him out.

Payne was the only one reading the Quinn TD pass...but it was way past his responsiblity. I say that to point to the idea that maybe they thought he just played smarter? I personally like him more, I think he plays smart and hard.

Brandon McGowan is garbage. Go back to his rookie year when they put him in in the playoffs and Steve Smith made him his beeyotch. That guy has sucked all along and to think they traded Chris Harris because McGowan was better. What a joke. This franchise really effed itself after that Super Bowl run and hopefully Angelo takes his arrogancy to the XFL or something.

The defense is stronger which made it harder for Okwo to find a spot. You and I can be the Bears 5th or 6th receivers.

the Bears D is stronger because they have some idea of how to do it (ie, run a D). The offense is in shambles, and has been for...well....forever, because its ignored or put into the hands of a lunatic. Erik Kramer mentioned this preseason that he thought Turner was holding back the offense compared to the time when he was with the Bears. Holding back a lackluster offense, not brilliant.

but, despite the injury risk, I would love to take you up on the offer of being the 5th ore 6th WR... :)

The bottom line is that when your 2nd and 3rd round picks can't even make it as backups..you have some issues. Let's dismiss the notion that Angelo is some defensive guru...he hasn't had a gem since 2004(Harris and Vasher). I guess you coudl maybe consider Mark Anderson if he figures out how to become more than a 1 dimensinoal player.
