I'd like to welcome the latest additions to the moderating crew here at NSBB - E.J. and Outshined_One. Both have been outstanding members of the community for a long time. Both have shown the ability to keep an even temperment and show respect to all members of the community even in heated debates.

 

But most importantly, they were stupid enough to accept the invitation!

 

Seriously, though, thanks guys for the assistance in keeping NSBB the best place on the net to talk about the Cubs!

I am stunned I was not chosen. Just because I was going to make C*lvin and H*seby banned words does not I should not have been chosen. Just because I was going to misuse my powers to silence my enemies and advance my own crackpot theories does not mean I should be disqualified.

 

Sure if you want someone conventionally competent you made a good choice. But I was going to take the concept of what a "moderator" really is and turn it completely on its head! I was going to redefine the role and re-invent the semiotics we associate with the position of moderator. In the history of moderators, there would be two eras: Pre Badnews and Post Badnews. Like the Cambodians of 1979 we were heading for Year Zero people. Oh well, maybe next time.

Crap, I had a dream that O_O was made a mod and then banned me. My time might be short guys!

 

dreaming about the cubs is one thing, this is something entirely different.

Okay, last new mod for a while...

 

One of the most universally respected members of the community has also agreed to help out with the moderation duties. Fred Hornkohl has also agreed to help us out.

 

For those wondering about the increase in the number of moderators, I'll take a minute to explain. There are a couple of things that are behind the change. First and foremost, a number of the moderators have been unable to spend as much time here recently. Between several people having new kids, a couple of us having new jobs or new responsibilities, and then just other demands on our time -- we simply haven't had the time to devote to moderation duties lately.

 

The second driver is the increase in general snarkiness on the board. I created this forum as a haven away from the idiocy that happens at the major forums affiliated with other sites such as cubs.com, espn.com and so forth. Over the past couple years, though, this forum has developed some bad habits, as well. Please take the additions to the moderation crew as a signal that we intend to get NSBB back to a more friendly environment in which to talk about Cubs baseball and other topics.

Congrats guys. Too bad Tim wouldn't give me status as a birthday present.

It would be too much work to delete all the threads in the mod forum about you before we brought you on board. ;)
