LOL, this thread is funny.

When will Rich start?

Not sure.

Someone said he might not start until after the all star break.

OMGZ PRIOR PRIOR!!

Len said he'll start Saturday.

Rich is the man, he's great!

8-)

Don't lie. You know you would've been right with the 'OMGZ PRIOR PRIOR!!' crew had you been in the thread earlier yesterday... :D

This means for you guys that want to see Harden pitch, outside of the area, better get ready to go to the local bar for the game and Liquid Lunch. :good: Prediciton 6 IP 3 H 0 ER

I keep reading about going to the local bar for games I can't see at home. Am I missing something? Why does a bar get games that I don't?

I believe businesses that allow their customers to watch pay a higher fee to be able to show just about any game. Basically, the business is profiting off of the viewers.

I understand that they pay a higher fee, but by paying the higher fee they aren't subject to blackout rules?

Yeah :)

I had the luxury of missing that part of the thread, I can't lie.

Fun to read though.

I don't believe so. They get an expanded package (that's what she said), which allows them to get just about any game. My guess is that the league gets a higher percentage of revenue from these subscriptions than they do from an individual subscribing to a sports package.

Thank God Baker isn't in charge of this team or he'd ruin Harden in a month. Gotta get the dude pitchin into the 9th to work out the kinks.

Judging from last night's game thread, one would have thought we still had Baker on this team.

I hope stuff like this conservative approach puts that hyperbolic crap to rest, but it's doubtful.

Because it irritates me, and I'm on a message board forum that I'm allowed to express my irritation as long as I don't personally attack anyone?

So you're trying to tell us that Lou is using Marmol properly? Please man, anybody can tell he's been overused by him all season and now that he's feeling the effect people are overreacting? The fact is if your name isn't Howry, Marmol, or Wood you will not be pitching much. I have no problems the way Lou has been using the rotation but the way he's been using the pen is wrong, especially when you have 12-13 pitchers at a time.

Someone posted a thread to Sopcast or something in a thread that links to a channel that should show the game. Don't feel like looking for it, but it's out there.

myp2p.com is a site that has a listing of various things using sopcast, tvu and windows media player. Just click the tab on the top that says live sports and then look for the Cubs.

Sorry, I still don't know what you're talking about. Were you upset about something Lou did?

Everyone was angry because Lou used Marmol for the 4th straight game in 5 days with a 4 run lead when 2 guys in the pen haven't pitched in a week, and 2 more hadn't pitched since Saturday.

Thanks TT. Let's hope the new bullpen help helps ease that.

Without taking into account the fact he had 9 pitches on Sunday and 10 pitches on Tuesday.

My irritation wasn't with the disagreement with the move, I myself disagreed with it. It was with the ridiculous overall reaction to the move, IMHO. The insinuation and the direct indictment of Lou being no better than Dusty is and was absurd, regardless of what you thought should have happened.

He's RARELY used Marmol more than 2 days in a row, and NEVER used him the day after a using him 2 innings. I agree he's showing fatigue and probably shouldn't be used as often as he has been though.

Marmol has been used 3 days in a row 5 times, and he's been used in 3 out of 4 days 9 times.

I guess I just don't think that's all that much for your 2nd best reliever. How many high pitch high stress outings has he had? We can't just use outings when it's convenient to use outings. It's high stress high pitch outings that should be MORE concerning right?

How often in general, do the best relievers on their teams get used 3 days in a row and 4 out of 5? Is this normal. I don't have that data and I'd be curious to see it.

I realize your point in that I don't remember what Lieber and Wuertz look like, and I don't think you've ever been ridiculous in portraying your views on this subject. I feel you are one of the most objective posters on this board and I appreciate that.

Slightly off-topic here to ask this, but since it came up: Why does everyone automatically blame Lou for trotting out Marmol too much? I know the buck stops with the skipper, but I was under the impression he delegated most bullpen decisions to Larry. Not true?

Lou decides what relievers are used.

Marmol is still on pace for 85 appearances, which is at the top of reliever appearances in most years. So, he's being used as frequently as anybody in baseball, which is a lot. The innings are down a little from when he was on pace for something like 85/105, but his frequency is still very high. It's a risky move with any reliever, especially one with a young arm.

I keep reading about going to the local bar for games I can't see at home. Am I missing something? Why does a bar get games that I don't?

No. There will be no local bars showing it either. People outside the Chicago area are screwed when it comes to Saturday baseball and the Cubs.

Really? I've watched FOX games that would otherwise be blacked out at bars before.

I can understand being upset that people were saying Lou is just as bad as Dusty. But the fact is, Marmol is clearly being used as much as anyone in the league, and his performance his falling off. It's completely appropriate for Cub fans to complain about their best reliever's arm being burned out. And that's on Lou.

Yeah, I can't believe that's true. My bars carry out of market games.
