Cubs will probably send out:

Theriot SS

Fukudome RF

Lee 1B

Ramirez 3B

Edmonds CF

Soto C

DeRosa 2B

Murton LF

Dempster P

they were saying on the score this morning that edmonds had an mri on his foot done yesterday. they didn't expect him to miss any playing time, but he'll probably sit out a couple more games than he otherwise would because his plantar fasciitis is acting up

So they did or didn't think he would be out tonight? I'd hate it if he couldn't go, thats the best lineup possible with Soriano out.

they didn't predict, didn't sound like they knew what the mri said, they just said it wasn't something serious enough to have him dl'd.

This should be an easy series win, if not sweep. Do it Cubs.

When was the last time the Cubs swept the Reds? I bet it has been awhile.

Reds lineup:

Hairston SS

Bruce CF

Griffey RF

Phillips 2B

Dunn LF

Keppinger 3B

Votto 1B

Bako C

Harang P

July 2004. So, really, the last time they had a good team.

If Hairston and Bako go off on the Cubs again tonight, I'm going to scream.

3-3 for each side this year. I'll be pretty surprised if the Cubs sweep the series. Somebody will take 2 of 3 with a close game deciding who takes the series.

Although Harang and his 3-10 record and sore bicep doesn't give me a lot of hope for tonight.

Hairston: .344/.388/.479/.867 with 15 steals in 169 ABs this year. Good Lord I hope we trade him before he either A. remembers he is Jerry Hairston Jr. or B. gets busted for HGH.

Yeah, I don't get why everyone is saying sweep. I'd guess the Cubs would take 2 of 3. Zambrano has struggled vs. the Reds and the 2nd game off the DL is always the one that worries me. Less adrenaline, less to "prove". Cueto seems to have found his early season magic too.

May 28-30th, 2001....we beat them 6 times in an 8 game span (6-0)

The July 2004 thing was a 2 game series.

So yeah, it's be a long time. This Cubs team is really good, but there have been a lot worse Reds teams (umm, last years) that managed not to be swept by the Cubs.

Has nothing to do with this years team or this particular series. I like the pitching matchups this series, and the fact that we are 33-10 at home this year means we should win 2/3 if not sweet.

It seems somebody always says they "see a sweep" or think the Cubs need a sweep.

Marty Brennaman's rant against Cubs fans from April has been getting plenty of air play up here with Reds back in town. But Brennaman, who's been up here since Sunday, hadn't heard much from the fans.

"I walked eight blocks to dinner last night," he said. "Nobody said a word."

He spent Tuesday afternoon at the Navy Pier, with his daughter, Dawn, and son, Thom, and their children. That's the first time it came up.

"Thom gave the guy the tickets for the ride," Marty said. "He said, 'Isn't that guy a baseball announcer? Thom. . .' Dawn said, 'Brennaman.' He said, 'yeah, I got a bone to pick with him.' She asked what about. He said, 'I'm Cub fan. He doesn't like Cub fans.'

Marty stepped in.

"I said you got the wrong Brennaman. We ended up talking for 15 minutes. It was great."

Brennaman did not go low profile. He was on the field before the game, wearing a bright red shirt.

"Thom's going to get a shirt that says: I'm not that Brennaman," Marty said.

Brennaman turned down all appearances on local shows.

"I've said all I'm going to say," he said.

The Reds and MLB provided extra security. You have to walk through the stands to get to the radio booth at Wrigley Field.

"I offered to sign 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame,'" Brennaman said. "They turned me down."

By the way this is what Brennaman said (it was right after a couple dozen balls were thrown on the field after an Adam Dunn home run):

"This is what makes you want to see this Chicago Cubs team lose. Among all baseball fans -- I can't attest to the Yankees and Red Sox because we don't see them with any degree of regularity unless it's interleague play -- but far and away the most obnoxious fans in baseball in this league are those who follow this team right here. Throwing 15 or 18 balls on the field, there's absolutely no excuse for that and that is so typical of Chicago Cub fans. It's unbelievable."

"Throwing the ball back, that's great, that's a Chicago Cub tradition that other teams have picked up on, and that's fine."

"It's ridiculous, it really is ... You simply root against them. I've said all winter, people talk about this team winning the division, and my comment is they won't win it because at the end of the day, they're still the Chicago Cubs and they will figure out a way to screw this whole thing up.
