It looks like they are trying to keep Fukudome in the 2 spot so that he can be acclimated to it when Soriano comes back.

Hopefully that means Theriot or Fontenot are in the leadoff spot today, not Johnson for the 3rd straight day. Johnson probably has the inside track though.

The fact that Lou keeps batting Johnson vs. righties, and considers DeRosa as his altenate suggests that Murton has no future with this team.

I'd imagine he'll be back out there against lefties. It is annoying how they've outright stopped letting him hit righties.

I imagine we had some pretty nice stretches in '06 as well. 116 out of 154 isn't all that easy. Our second half must have been amazing.

I don't believe any team in baseball has a higher winning pct over 3 seasons as the 1906-1908 CUBS. I haven't checked it out for sure, but the '06 team won 116 games (0.753) which is still the single season record. Then they went to the World Series and got their clock cleaned by a team called the "hitless wonders". Go figure.

Same here, in Minneapolis.

Here in Alabama, also.

Apparently FOX thinks every baseball fan in America wants to watch the overrated soap-opera drama that is the Yanks-Red Sox, and not a legit, hard-fought rivalry like the Cubs/Cards.

According to Bill James.

The Cubs have the most wins tied in 1 year

most over 2

most over 3

most over 4

most over 5

most over 6

most over 7

most over 8

most over 9

It was in his book that did the break down by decades and then ranked the best players by position.

Yeah... I was speaking in terms of winning pct specifically because they have lengthened the schedule a couple of times over the last 107 years. For example, Seattle tied the '06 CUBS record of 116 wins in a season a few years back, but they went 116-46 (0.716), while the CUBS had won 116 in a 154 game schedule, or 116-38 for a winning pct of 0.753. These two team feats are, in my opinion, not even close.
