glad to see him starting in Daytona so he doesn't have to wait until Friday (primarily for the reasons CCP mentioned). the sooner the better.

as many have stated, if rich hill is good, no one can hit him anywhere, so the location of the start is meaningless.

go throw strikes.

:good:

I really can't wait until Hill comes back and performs well so that people can praise the way the organization handled his issues (that they created).

Has there actually been anyone or anything that has come out and said that they did indeed change his mechanics? I have heard rumblings on here about how Larry had perhaps thought about tinkering with his mechanics, but I've never seen anything in print to confirm it. If there has been then I apologize, but I always thought it was more speculation than actual fact.

The only thing I could find were these quotes from Hill himself:

"For some unexplained reason, my arm path was a lot different from last year," Hill said
"It's almost like you've got a bunch of keys and you're trying to find the right one that fits the hole," Hill theorized. "You keep trying different things until you find the right key.

Now I don't expect Hill to come out and throw Rothschild under a bus, but couldn't it be possible that Rich lost the feel for his mechanics on his own?

Due to CSN most likely having absolutely nothing to show tonite, they should pick up this game. I bet viewership wouldn't be half bad.

They are doing some Chicago Sports past present future thingy.

When the club says they'll give RH an extra day or skip a start here and there, the wildcart could very well be Hill. (Not to mention Marshall, Gaudin, etc.; but Hendry clearly has the same visions of a lockdown rotation that this board does, and that points to Hill.)

Keep it up, Rich! (Or should I say, keep those curves hitting the outside corner! )

We have two RHs now.

#-o Noted!

Except one of the RHs is LH

No, that's absolutely not possible. He's Rich Hill. Whatever happened to him was the fault of someone else.

I just hope he comes back and pitches well.

we all know that rich's only problem is that he's mentally weak, so i guess that means that if he starts pitching well again, he's not. the cubs probably just gave him some peyote or something in arizona and now everything is going to be awesome.

I was satisfied. Fort Myers started to tire him out with foul balls as it sounded like he was a little less sharp in the 5th. He walked the last two guys he saw on 4 pitches each. Before that, his control was pretty good.

Before the game on Thursday was called off, the radio pregame guy said that Rich would probably be there for at least 2 starts. At first I thought that was a bit extreme, but then once he pitched tonight, I could understand.

He did fine, especially early on. But he needs to work more, and get his strength up. Hopefully, next time out he'll be stronger and more confident.

I like the approach they're taking with Hill so far. Let him work his way back slowly. This year's team is doing OK without him, so let's make sure he gets ready for next year. If I were JH, I'd let Hill work through all the levels of the minors for a couple starts each so that the hitters get better in smaller increments and there's less pressure on him all at once. He's not likely to have an impact this season anyway. May as well take the time and get some reps and consistency with his new delivery.

I think he has the capability of making an impact late in the season, and especially in the playoffs. He's going to have a pretty fresh arm, which is a hot commodity late in the season. How nice would it be to let some of the starters have more off days with a big lead in the standings in the last month of the season? There could be quite a battle for the last playoff spot by Marquis (if he's still here), Marshall and Hill if the Cubs decide to take 5 starters.

Tomorrow, with Daytona.

And Hill has another start rained out, at least I'm assuming it was rain, all it says on milb.com is cancelled.

Yeah, it was rain:

[DAYTONA BEACH, FL] Wednesday’s game between the Daytona Cubs (17-12) and the Sarasota Reds (16-16) has been postponed and cancelled due to heavy rains in the Daytona Beach area.

Rain started falling on "The Jack" around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday and had still not let up at the time of the postponement. The cancellation is the third rainout for the Cubs this season, with all three rainouts coming during the month of July.

So once again, tomorrow with Daytona.
