Does anyone here really buy that he has inside dirt on not one, not two, but a majority of the Cubs that no one else has? He doesn't know anything that anyone else doesn't know. I'm calling total BS...

Yes. She has explained as much in the past.

Okay, you want it then you have it.

I have pretty much kept this off the board but here it goes. And no I expect no one to believe me but you go ahead and ask Bruce Miles if I am lying and then you can get back to me.

For the past 8 seasons prior to the one, I was indeed employed in the front office of the Chicago Cubs. I left of my own choosing partly to get out before a new owner comes in and sweeps the place clean and partly to be closer to my family as my parents are getting up there in age and the price of gas made commuting into the city was costing me more that it was worth.

One of my two direct bosses is no longer with the club and left a year before I did. I suspected he left because he knew the Tribune was going to sell well before it was ever announced. The location of my office in the ballpark allowed me direct access most of the baseball braintrust on site whom I had contact with on a daily basis. In fact, my boss was interim GM from 2000 - 2002 until he handed it over to Jim Hendry.

It's why I know the business side of this game as well as I do and it's why I have a great understanding of the rules, etc of this game. It's why maybe I get a bit perturbed when my knowledge of these areas is challenged by the people on this board even though I never came clean before now but that really shouldn't matter. I couldn't say anything for some time and didn't even want to bother until now but I am tired of the piling on and not being able to say one word back without being told I am a complete idiot or getting my hand slapped for responding.

Regardless of my background, it shouldn't be assumed that because I am a female and I am not part of the little clique on this board that I know nothing about baseball.

If it seems like I have met or know some of these guys, well guess what, this should explain that I have. Not all of the players but many...and because of my position, I always met all of the coaching staff.

So fire away boys, I think it's time for me to take another break from the action.

I'd like to know the nature of what they are doing that other athletes on other teams don't do to justify still being a sports fan but not a Cubs fan.

I still call BS, and it has nothing to do with you being female (which I didn't even recall at first).

She's the only one that brought up the idea of being "excluded from the boys' club."

Over her credentials? They've been confirmed by Bruce at least once on this board and I think multiple times.

I can understand the not wanting to watch the Cubs anymore but still being a sports fan after spending so much time close to the players. Ever worked in a bad restaurant/normal fast food place for a while? You've seen up close what they do, and you don't want to eat there anymore, even though you also know that people come through everyday and don't get sick. At the same time, you're still willing to eat at other restaurants/fast food places, even though your head acknowledges that the same sorts of things are probably happening there as well. That's basically what I think is probably happening here, and it's perfectly normal.

I call BS that she has legit dirt on the majority of the Cubs in order to justify her qualms about them all as "human beings," not that she worked in the front office.

Once I stopped working in athletics, it was great to be able to watch sports and be a fan again. When you're working long hours before and after events, it loses it's appeal. It's a lot more enjoyable when you actually get back to just being a fan.

And for the record (not responding to you CCP, just in general), I don't think I've ever seen anyone on here second-guess her opinion on the basis of her gender. Not saying it didn't happen, but I'm on here a lot (even though I may not post that much), and I've never seen anyone say that she doesn't know what she's talking about because she's a woman. In fact, the only person I've seen bring her gender into it is her. I can understand and respect her reasons for not wanting to reveal too many details about her connections to the organization though.

I'm not knocking you, but I seriously don't know why you even bother. There are people on the internet (not just this board) that get their jollies trying to see how upset they can get you (or another inside info poster we have on the board Nate etc.) . I think you would be better off just posting the info and not getting into a pissing match with the people that don't believe you. Most of us that have been on the board for awhile know that you are a credible poster. If the others don't believe you, fine, its their loss.

In regard to the class or lack of class of the managers, players etc. This is probably the last place in the world that would be affected by such things. How many "...everybody cheats, so its ok..." posts have there been in this post alone.

i 100% believe that she worked for the cubs. any issues i have with her posts have nothing to do with me doubting her story.

Agreed. I have no reason to doubt she worked for the team...it's just the conemnations of so many people there and their quality as "human beings" that seem really ridiculous and melodramatic.

I don't think you're full of it RE: your credentials. What I find exceedingly lame is your "I don't even root for the Cubs because their players are mean" thing. If that's true, fine. Your choice. But why continue to post here? Is it because you're full of it, and you still root for the Cubs? Or is it because you're dying to play insider on this message board, regardless of whether you still root for the team?

Either way, it's lame. And your petulant, victim schtick is even lamer. Sorry, not everybody agrees with you. And not everybody is going to kiss your ass because you dropped some C-grade insider info with no details. Deal with it.

People would probably value your contributions more, though, if you left that enormous chip on your shoulder at the door. And if you quit accusing everybody of some anti-woman conspiracy every time we disagreed with you. How you present your ideas is just as important as what you say. And frankly, your posts need a lot of work in that department.

I already rarely watch the Cubs as it is because quite frankly, I don't find too many players on this club that I feel have a lot of redeeming qualities as human beings and don't get me started on what I think of Lou and his staff (Lester not included).

whoa...can i ask you to get started then...because i would be quite curious to the reasoning behind this...

Sorry don't care to share and there are things that I cannot share.

If you don't want to or can't say anything about it, then why hint at it in the first place?

Because she's trying to feel important. To strangers on an internet message board.

i'm sure the truth lies somewhere inbetween. I doubt that 20 out of the 25 guys on the Cubs are a-holes, but it wouldn't surprise me if some are.

people will believe what they want to believe regardless. i gave up on having any arguments about Oprah for the same reason; people think what they think about her, and nothing i saw/heard/experienced working for her will change anyone's mind

Just a suggestion RedIvyCub. Change your screen name to Belkast, Peace or Big Bird and you will gain instant Insider credibility around here. Just ask the guys at Orioles Hangout that were laughing all the way through the "Brians Roberts is a done deal" fiasco.

The cry of misogyny is really annoying. This board has been more than open to pretty much everyone so long as they make valuable posts.

I think it's a shame that your experience working for the team has soured your attitude towards the Cubs. It would be a great asset to this board if you could provide insight into the team, not on the "dirt" per se, but on the organizational philosophies that might help predict future transactions.

i was a big fan of 30 rock until i heard alec baldwin's voicemail to his daughter. i can see where redivy is coming from.

Thanks but no thanks Barry. There's a reason why 30 GM's are taking a pass and it has nothing to do with collusion or Selig. It's just prudent business.

I can appreciate the fact that some ppl would love to see 900-1000 OPS production out of LF (and then presumably the bench when Sori returns), but you're looking at this from a pure stats perspective. Barry is looking at possible jail time and is a massive black eye on the sport. Even under the best of circumstances he was, by all accounts, a clubhouse cancer. On top of this he's absolutely abysmal defensively of course. What GM wants any part of this scenario for a few extra HR's?

That about sums it up...no thanks

My guess is zero.

I haven't seen one person who has said cheating is ok. I just find it odd that people cheer for the Cubs now but wouldn't if they signed Bonds because he cheated. As if no one on the Cubs has ever cheated.

What are you say, they have??????

If we got bonds and with the acquisition of Edmonds, would that make Satan's living quarters a lot colder or would we be a lot more comfortable there?

Let's just say it's more about how you treat people and I don't mean all of them. Never said repulsive because it isn't about that. Quite frankly, I cannot say much more. You know the old saying, what happens in the clubhouse, stays in the clubhouse.
