If there's any damage in there that puts him out for a significant length of time, it's over. We won't win the division without Z, and if we do back into the playoffs and he's still out, we're toast. He is the most important player on the team right now.

So here's my worthless update:

I was down at Wrigley during lunch to replace my ruined Zambrano jersey t-shirt and see if any singles were available for future Friday games (got 7/25, 8/8, and 8/22!). If that's not tempting fate, I don't know what is. Anyways, at 12:50 PM, Zambrano emerged from the entrance right next to the ticket office wearing a tan-ish colored shirt and was accompanied by some bearded gentleman. They didn't say much and none of us wanted to bother Z, so I'm actually just wasting your time. He wasn't "favoring" his shoulder at all and while he didn't look to be in a great mood, he also wasn't crying. After a minute, he got into his black Mercedes sedan and drove off.

Although, come to think of it, he did back out of the spot slowly and take a while to turn the wheel, but I figured that delay was just caused by some woman calling him and Z having to tell them that he's married.

So again, I've got nothing. But I did stand 20 feet from Zambrano today and you didn't.

Now it's time to schedule some half-Fridays.

They might be able to pull out the division without Z. They'd probably need Dempster to continue and will need at least one of Marshall or Hill to contribute some quality starts. I don't think it would be a lock though.

If you want to pull your weight around here, you need to make it your duty to stop him and ask him about the MRI.

Refreshing that he doesn't look like this guy.

If he's really out for a significant amount of time, we could look into a trade. The problem being, of course, everyone else will know we're desperate.

I would love it if Hill and/or Marshall could come back to the big leagues strong. If either could just give us a couple of strong months it would be massively helpful. I'm still not clear on what the hell happened to Hill. He should still be a serviceable middle-of-the-rotation pitcher. He needs to get back to what he was projected to be and get it done. Don't really care how.

I'm not minimizing the impact Zambrano has on this team, but if he's out for a short time I think the Cubs can stay afloat. We won't play as well as we have, but Zambrano is only pitching once every five days. The team has only lost five games in June, and 2 of those were in games started by Zambrano. To think we're done if he's out is not true.

An extended injury to Zambrano does mean we need to look for a starter, but if that starter comes at the trading deadline, so be it.

It would be great if Hill could get back to being Hill right about........now. (or, say, about five hours from now)

He actually had 3, since the replacement arm is currently growing out of his back.

Hey, I did get that Bazooka gum scoop a few years ago. I was a little surprised nobody else shouted to him to ask how he was doing, although I think only a few others actually realized it was him. And yes, his arm was still attached. He also wasn't wearing anything special on his shoulder.

OCB isn't the place to pick up women.

I think the I'll cherish the fact that Raisin called me a name dropper. Of course, he would have tried to hit up Z for free tickets.

Back on topic, losing Zambrano for a month or even two wouldn't be a huge blow, but there are obviously other factors at play in regards to the rotation.

The title of the thread says "MRI Scheduled", but then there is no info on when it is scheduled for. Did he already have it done?

And did he open the car door with his left hand or his right hand?

To be honest, I couldn't even see. Despite his Mercedes being a sedan, it's actually rather tall. The driver's side was on the opposite side of the car. I didn't see him favor his arm at all, but with this injury, he probably wouldn't even if it was bad.

As for the MRI, all I heard was that he was having it today. I'd imagine that he would have taken it in the morning, but he may very well not have had it yet.

Also, one critical piece of information: Zambrano left carrying something in a white bag that they use in the Wrigley Field stores.
