PSU now alone in 4th in the Big Ten behind MSU, Illinois and Purdue. They've certainly taken advantage of what has been a favorable first-half BT schedule, but they've also still won games they weren't expected to, like against Purdue.

Of course, the schedule kicks up in difficulty right about....now.

yeah they have three auto-losses (@mich st, @purdue, @illinois) and only one auto-win left (vs indiana).

That's just a sickening loss. We completely controlled that game for 34 minutes. Then they have a 9-0 run in 1:05.

Defense went to sleep, offense got frazzled, PSU couldn't miss and when they did they got the offensive rebound.

That really, really sucks. They played so well.

No points in the last 3 minutes. Same as the Ohio State game where we win if we can hit a shot or two in the last couple minutes. Only 2 buckets in the last 8 minutes I think.

Ugh. As bad as this team has looked at times they're an eyelash from 14-6, 4-3 if they close the deal in either of those games. I know that's loser talk and whining. Just frustrated.

"auto-losses"?

Jamelle Cornley does not have that term in his dictionary. I bet you they take at least 1 of them, maybe even 2. Starting with Michigan St.

Harangody 24 and 15. Jackson and McAlarney both had nine but combined to shoot 6/24. KMac missed his last twelve shots.

It's the same old story. Poor Harangody plays his ass off every night, well outperformed Hasheem Thabeet (9 and 11), and the rest of his team takes a dump on the court and lights it on fire.

Notre Dame's not only not a ranked team, they might not be a tournament team.

17-3 after last year. How bad were Shaun Pruitt and Brian Randle?

They weren't bad college basketball players, they just weren't a good fit for a motion offense. I'll always be a fan of Brian Randle cause he was a genuinely nice guy every time I talked to him, and took way too much flack for his play.

Beyond Brian and Shaun not fitting in the motion, Frazier spent most of the year hurt, DMac, Davis, and Tis were developing as freshmen, and we were a tremendously unlucky team.

I always said last year's team was not nearly as their record showed, but even my most optimistic estimate had us as an 11 seed in the tourney. This has been pretty amazing.

Yeah this has really made me rethink my opinion of Weber. I definately am glad he's our coach as I think our team, while very improved, has no buisness being 17-3.

randle was a heckuva defender though. except for those 2 dumb fouls he would get 40 ft from the basket every game.

big props to weber this year. just think if we had a legitimate post player?

Just think if EJ would have just decommitted right away and we could have got one of Manny Harris or E'Twaun Moore who were both rumored to be leaning our way. :banghead:

imagine if derrick rose commits to us while ej was solid and we win the national championship last year.

sounds like the strategy against ND is to let Harangody get his numbers and force the rest of the team to beat you

Maybe. It's not like teams don't try to stop Luke. He just always has a way to kill you. No one else on the team can beat you in more than one way. Which is probably the problem.

One of my friend's Facebook statuses made me laugh: "would like to see ND beat a quality opponent in a sport besides women's soccer and hockey before he dies."

At least we've got the other Hansbrough and Scott Martin next year.

That loss by Iowa today hurt me. I'm talking Cubs/ Dodgers pain (it ultimately won't mean much at all considering Iowa was going no where this year but that's how attached I am to this stupid team). What a choke job. We'll never get a coach that prevents the team from blowing double digit leads in the last 5 minutes. Never.

Nice choke job, UCD. Up 16 with 9 minutes to play and get outscored 23-5 the rest of the way. And with 19 seconds left you're down 2 and all you get is a running, off balance 3-pointer? Well done.

Considering how bunched up the Big West is right now (2 games separates second from ninth/last place) it would have been nice to win this one at home.

Wait, Oregon State beat Stanford on the road by 15? Am I reading that right?

The Beavers swept the Bay area schools. In the Bay.

Crazy.

Since Rose could have played with Eric at either spot and chose not to, me thinks he didn't want to play with E.J.

Obama's brother in law getting the job done!

OSU winning puts DePaul dangerously close to the "worst team in a Major conference." Indiana could give us a run for our money this year, but at least they have something to look forward to.

Seton Hall upsets Georgetown today. Louisville and Marquette both unbeaten in the Big East, giving ND another game to lose tomorrow night (they host Marquette).
