A team named after the sun's rays plays indoors. Makes sense.

They can say what they want but the Rays comes from Devil Rays. They just got some backlash for having devil in their name so they cut it out and changed what they were named after. Fact is they wouldn't be the Rays if they hadn't been the devil first.

We can win this if Dempster pitches well. The Cubs have defeated a lot of ace quality pitchers this year, theres no reason we can't scratch across a run or two and somehow win. It won't be easy but we can do it.

My friend told me tonight, "This team is sweepable...every team is sweepable for the Cubs."

It's true, and I love hearing it. Let's do this!

I also have a job interview tomorrow - not a 'real' job, but a better one and a full time one - so it could be a very good or very bad day.

Uhh, I don't like positivity in game threads so I'll just say this before Kazmir throws a 3 pitch 1st inning:

Ballgame.

I do think the Cubs can take 2 of 3 from this series though.

I was hoping this would be the year that the Cubs go to Fenway. Hopefully it'll be the next time the NL Central faces the AL East.

Predictions:

Game 1: we jump all over Kazmir early for 7 runs through 3. Dempster gives up 2 in 6th and 7th.

Game 2: Zambrano gives up an early 3 run lead and nothing else, but we cant touch Sonnenstine

Game 3: Gallagher owns the Rays, we beat up on Shields.

What a difference a year makes in attitude around this place. In a good way.

OH YEAH

I AM GOING TO THIS ONE BABY!!!

kaz kaz oh kaz...please make the rays fans cry with your craptacular location that gets chewed up and thrown over the wall by the cubs!!!

:yahoo:

the seats may be crap, but i'm going to this game and the other 2 games in the series. i wonder how many d-ray fans will be there considering

1: its the cubs

2: they were the d-rays

i have noticed a lot more fans going to the dome on tv but i think that before the season cubs fans in florida snapped those things up so it may be a 50-50 split. i'll bet some season ticket holders are kicking themselves now because this is (dareisayit?) a possible world series matchup.

I'm confident the Cubs can win if they pour the runs on. The Rays' pitching outside of Kazmir and the closer really isn't all that impressive, but their bats love to smack in the runs in bunches to offset the runs they give up.

I think we'll take two of three from the D-Rays. We'll definitely take the second game.

We'll be able to squeak one out against Kazmir or Shields but not both.

My Centsports betting advice of the day- take the under on this game

Wow, its unbelievable Kazmir was traded at all, let alone for the likes of Victor Zambrano, the Mets were going no where in June 2004 (besides losing 91 games) - why would one trade prospect such as Scott Kazmir in such a year?

As you all know, I'm a pessimistic prick. It takes a LOT for me to make a statement like that. But I really am confident that we can generate something tonight. And if we don't we'll probably do it tomorrow. Being 20 games over .500 in June gives you that type of perspective.

If the Cubs go on a 7 game losing streak, I'll probably go back to negativity, just so you know :)
