The real lineup

Soriano, LF

Theriot, SS

Lee, 1B

Ramirez, 3B

Fukudome, RF

Edmonds, CF

Cedeno, 2B

Blanco, C

Dempster, P

Thanks Bruce. How do you feel about this Edmonds move?

It's a low-risk move. Worth a try although I said in my blog I'd take a pass if it were me. They're going to assign Dave Keller full time to Pie in Iowa. Let's just see what happens.

Thanks. What's Keller going to focus on with Pie?

I'll take a stab at this one: Hitting.

Yeah....that's it! Seriously, I'd love to know what aspects they are going to work on.

Edmonds has a .303 avg. with 2HR's and 4 RBI's in 33 AB's against Maddux in his career.

That was the Edmonds of old. The one that I loathed as a Cardinal. I still loathe him now, but he won't even perform, so it'll be even worse. This hatred will be a cross between Edmonds and Macias.

I'm just throwing out some numbers...I'm not saying he's going to be the Edmonds of the past. Getting him for almost nothing it's worth a try. Who know's, maybe a change of scenery will do him some good. If it does'nt work out the CUBS release him and Pie comes back up. In the mean time Pie will get some consistent AB's at Iowa. It's a no lose situation IMO.

I wonder if Edmonds will get booed.

I hope not. He's a Cub now (for now) so people need to just get over it.

I'd boo Barry Bonds if he was a Cub.

How long before they start selling the Edmonds jersey tees?

Whose gonna pick one up? I know I am!

I wonder how many of the drunk bleacher bums at today's game haven't heard about Jim Edmonds signing yet. I can just picture their faces as they hear "now, batting 6th and playing center field, number 21....Jim Edmonds".

Oh, the horror.

I've seen so many gay jokes on here about Edmonds that I actually thought that said, "I wonder if Edmonds will get boned."

Coming from you, I was initially surprised.

What type of a reaction is he going to get from the crowd? That's what I'm interested in.

Ha, I forgot about this pic. I'm pretty sure that's our very own Jason Marquis he is victimizing, too.

I'm sure they'll cheer, but I bet there are going to be a lot of awkward "un-freaking-believable" smiles in the stadium.

Good God, Edmonds' ass is ginormous.

Well thats completely different. Bonds (presumably) took steriods. So you have a moral issue with how he achieved his success. It seems to me that most people don't like Edmonds because he unnecessarily dives too much, is thought of by ESPN as a great defensive player, watches his home runs, doesn't like the locker rooms at Wrigley, and complains about questionable calls against him. Seems pretty petty to me.

I should say that I was largely against signing him. However, he's here now and there's nothing we can do about it. Perhaps he has a good few months, which would make the Cubs a better team. If not, he'll be released and in the meantime Pie will get consistent ABs.

I'm still pretty sure that picture is photoshopped.

Looks like a fist-bump at an awkward angle to me.

Maybe slightly altered to look a little more like a crotch grab.

They probably won't do anything since that announcement will never happen. Edmonds is wearing 15. Marquis is wearing 21.

They want him to continue working on his weight shifting, moving forward instead of planting the front foot. They also want him to adjust better on breaking pitches. I'm not sure how they'll work on the second part, but we'll see.

Someone in another thread said Marquis gave Edmonds number 21.

Nate McLouth is still on steroids (or something).

First inning HR, his 11th, puts the Bucs up 1-0 on the Cards.

I drafted him in all 4 of my leagues.

i have him in my league as well
