My first move as manager would be to DFA Fox, Marquis and Johnson

That's a bit harsh. At the very least, Johnson's a good platoon fifth outfielder.

His presence on the roster displeases me

Is there even a single manager in the NL Central that's not an idiot and/or insane?

I think the guy in Houston is doing a good job, what with the little league pitching rotation they have given him.

Of course, lost in all this will be that Sean Gallagher's day wasn't all that good.

It wasn't all that bad all things considered.

It wasnt? Making an emergency start, you dont think today wasnt that good? Damn you are harsh on Gallagher.

Hey, Fox's ERA went down today. Good outing for Chad. Gallagher's ERA on the other hand is almost 9.00 now. He's terrible.

I don't know how to use the green font, by the way.

Hes lost weight, and gained more velocity on his fastball than he had in years past. Hes gotten better with age, and learned how to pitch. Hes been horrible in the majors doing a job hes never done before.

That sounds a lot more like excuse-making for lack of performance than evidence.

Or it's a logical reason.

It's a logical reason for a pitcher whose performance projected to positive major-league numbers before the changes. But they didn't. He's a good prospect and a major-leaguer, but a 93-MPH fastball doesn't change that the majors and minors have both treated him like a mediocre pitcher on a pretty consistent basis.

Wait, you're calling Gallagher's numbers in the minors mediocre?

lou's brutal mismanagement strikes again

I know Lou is unpopular right now, but at what point is a major league pitcher accountable for throwing strikes? We can argue if putting Fox in was the right move all day long, but the fact is that Fox couldn't throw a strike.

4.1 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 6 K. Yes, it was pretty bad. If this was a Marquis game, people would be roasting him.

Or, to use fangraph, he lowered the Cubs' chances of winning by 14.4% points.

Well they are, compared to Tim Lincecum's last year before he got the call.

Chad Fox shouldn't be a major-league pitcher. That's on Piniella and Hendry equally.

Good call. I forgot they fired Phil Garner.
