So I was thinking last night, and anybody else besides myself, think if the Cards go into Milw this weekend and either take 2 of 3, or sweep the Brew Crew that Yost could get the axe? I know its still kind of early, but the Brewers have lost 6 in a row, are under .500, and are a downward spiral right now. Also there were rumors of him being let go after last years collapse, so with their bad start, coupled with a bad weekend vs the Cards, it wouldnt surprise me at all if he gets the axe.

It wouldn't surprise me, but I think they'll at least give him the rest of the year to win the division. If he can't do that, though, he's gone. This is his sixth season. I can't think of any current managers who have made it to a seventh season without entering postseason play. Phil Garner was hired, made the NLCS, won a pennant, and got fired all during Ned Yost's tenure. Brewer fans are sick of him. His days are numbered.

The Brewers team really just isnt all that impressive:

Ryan Braun: Not sure what to make of him, could be a sophmore slump, could just be a slump now

Prince Fielder: had great numbers last year, but could settle in as an Adam Dunn, or dare I say, Cecil Fielder

Mike Cameron: .270 hitter, maybe 20-25 HR

Corey Hart: possible the best all around player on the team, maybe a .280 20 HR guy

Hardy/Weeks/Hall: all have a history of inconsistancy, with some red hot streaks. In the end, I dont see them as being major impact players in the future.

Jason Kendall: He's Jason Kendall

Gallardos likely out for the season, and Sheets will probably join him eventually, and the rest of their pitching staff is nothing short of dismal.

Down one, first and third no out, a Brewer grounds to SS and Braun gets thrown out at home because he took off on contact. This is probably the 5th time I've seen this happen to Milwaukee and I don't watch more than one game of theirs a week. Yost is awful.

I think I want the Brewers to iwn this series just so Yost doesn't get fired. I think he'll be a big part of the Cubs success this year.

If I were not a Brewers fan, this is what I would cheer for, too.

I'm not quite cheering for the Brewers to lose so Yost can get the axe, but I'm close.

I would love to see Yost fired, LaRussa retire at the end of the year, and then see Yost replace LaRussa next year. It'd be like all Cubs fans winning the lotto.
