If Lou would've moved Reed Johnson over to left and had Pie replace Soriano I bet Johnson wouldve had made that catch

This isn't no ones fault but Wood's. He pitched poorly and got rocked. It's that simple.

Yea I know it is...Just saying if Lou wouldve made that move I mentioned there couldv'e been a chance Johnson wouldv'e caught that ball and it'd be a different outcome possibly.Soriano was terrible today

Yea, but it's understandable. He hasn't played in a while.

Soriano just doesn't look healthy at all out there.

As a Brewer fan I will freely admit that Fukudome was safe at home and that as much as anything is the difference in the game. The umpire had a bit of a creative strike zone for Marmol and then pinched Wood which was kind of weird too. I think maybe he just had problems getting a read on Marmol since he has so much movement on his pitches.

If Soriano is going to be that absurdly slow and be that afraid of the wall, we need a defensive replacement in those spots. Badly.

To clarify, since Pie worked with Perry and Lou:

Felix "Has no business being in the majors" Pie:

5-17, 1 HR, 3 BB, 5 K, .294/.386/.471/.857, 4 starts

Reed "Ideal leadoff hitter" Johnson:

7-33, 3 BB, 6 K, .212/.278/.212/.490, 8 starts

GET OFF PIE'S BACK!

Today was a win we needed too..Because you never know what your going to get with the inconsistency of Hill,Lilly and Marquis..We really need another stud pitcher to go along with Z..Something like the Webb-Haren combo, and now they got that guy called up who throws 98 mph consistently..Todays loss just really blows

It sucks, but we are still in a good place 6 games over .500. There's going to be other games just like this one. It sucks, it happens, we'll get'em this weekend.

Lou (and most fans) remember....

-Reed Johnson made the best catch of the year. The Cubs are 16-3 when he starts. He's such a spark plug.

-Pie made the last out to lose the game today. Pie looked back striking out vs. a sidearming lefty last night.

Screw you Kerry Wood. You bum.

Come on, man.

What is that his 3rd blown save already this year? Plus the horrible outing in game one. I have had enough of the Wood for closer experiment.

I agree, Marmol to closer. Sorry Kerry, but in save situations this year he has been terrible.

So you'd rather have Wood/Howry coming in for difficult situations like the one Marmol came in for today?

Right.

The Cubs lost because of Wood. Your best reliever should be your closer.

So, today, if Marmol is the closer, who pitches with 2 on, 1 out in the 7th, and then the 8th, to preserve the 2 run lead?

STL getting hammered with storms, tomorrow's game looks like it's headed for PPDville. Nothing is worse than a game being PPD after a loss, especially a loss like today's.

I can totally see the Cubs falling apart and getting swept in St. Louis this weekend.

Somebody make me feel better.

The Cards suck. Feel better?

Even if the Cubs get swept this weekend, there are still 120 games to play on the year, and the Cubs are above .500 with three pitchers clicking and without one of their best hitters doing anything.

yeah they either have to commit to playing pie most of the time, and pretty much all the time against RHP, or just trade him away. sending him to iowa isn't going to accomplish anything, and it's pretty clear that he's not going to improve by getting sporadic playing time. last night he got boned over on a third strike call (should've been a walk) and hit a liner that was a foot from being a double.

there was zero reason to start reed johnson today. there was a RHP on the mound, johnson doesn't have a history against gallardo, and he hasn't been hitting the ball well lately. either play pie or trade him, bottom line.

i think the rain will be mostly through... may be a delay early but i'd expect them to get the game in.

I think this is like the tenth time you've predicted a rain out.

You should. But then look at 2006 . Think about Jeff Weaver leading them to a title. I feel a lot less better now.

the error seems to be thinking that a rainout will happen every time it rains in a city on a given day.
