I agree, Marmol to closer. Sorry Kerry, but in save situations this year he has been terrible. This is why a pitcher's W/L is not a perfect indicator of his level of play.

not really. it was a hard hit ball, would've been a very tough play even if he'd gotten a perfect jump. the bigger problem is the pitcher either throwing the ball outside the strike zone or right down the middle for it to get hammered.

Despite the fact that Wood blew the game, Marmol's innings were the more important ones today. You want your best pitcher in with 1st and 3rd in the seventh, not coming into a 2-run lead with none on, none out in the 9th.

What the heck is with the vitriol towards Pie? He's hit well since they worked with his swing, and the only way that's a DP ball is if he hit it on the screws, so it must have been hit well.

 

Also, Wood. He didn't have it today, obviously. But the overreaction to his overall performance this year is pathetic. He's had two bad outings this year. Oh no, he's useless!

exactly...the ZONE was a big issue today...the ZONE was so wacky that all of the hitters were swinging at crap they would never swing at normally because of the ZONE

wasn't hit that well, more of a humpback liner. i think people have to accept that pie might be the worst hitter in the lineup for the next month or two. either that, or just give up on him altogether.
