Lou, from now on...that's how you use Marmol!

Of course, been better off to not start Zambrano that inning w 105 pitches....but ish happens.

Ehh, I can understand why Lou had Z in to start the inning, with the bottom 3 of the order up. Just didn't work out. At least he went to Marmol in time.

And if Marmol is going to pitch so often, it'd be nice if he could avoid automatically throwing three balls to every hitter he faces.

Cedeno makes that play I think.

uh obviously. cedeno is ozzie smith without the back flips.

Yep. Only Ozzie ever made a play in the hole.

Theriot was a part-time minor-league shortstop, playing mostly second. Is it so hard to believe he doesn't have the arm for second at the major-league level?

A little late, but so far I am getting annoyed by your posts in this game thread. First, the ump has been really bad. Secondly, Theriot played 2B and SS about evenly, he didn't mostly play 2nd.

293 games at 2B

244 games at SS

comparing SS to 2B, he played about 55/45 in favor of second, you make it sound like 80/20.

how much longer until we concede Reed Johnson is no longer the hot hand?

He's cooled off significantly. I'm curious how productive Pie has been since Lou and Gerald were working with him. I have to think Pie has been at least .275/.330/.450 since then.

Feel free to look up the definitions of "part-time" and "mostly." My post was perfectly accurate.

I heard Cedeno played CF in winter ball.

A bit. Though I understand the transition didn't go particularly well...

There is some serious injustice if Marmol's not on the All-Star team.

As much as I love Carlos Marmol, and as much I see All Star on him, I almost prefer him not to make the AS Team, if for nothing else, he will definately need those three days off.

so soriano still sucks i see.

He should have been down in Iowa for a few days to do a rehab assignment. The guy needs to work on his strike zone judgment.

Soriano's never been about strike zone judgment, though. If anything, he needs to work on his ability to make good contact with the balls he swings at. That's about the only way Soriano could reasonably be expected to be productive.

if you were a catcher and prince fielder was bearing down on you while you're waiting for a throw from the outfield, wouldn't you just move out of the way and let him score? a collision with prince fielder could mean death.

Nostradamus? You said this a good amount of time before it happened.

If he hasn't gotten that YET in his career, I doubt he'll fix it in a few days.

Eh, I think he's got you there. Part time to me sounds more like he played SS 1/4-1/3 of the time, not almost half. But your point about arm strength is dead on and he should never be at SS over Ronny when they're in ther together.

And every game thread of every game of every team in the history of baseball and the interwebs thinks that the umpire is terrible.

There's an unusually high amount of ump-bashing today.

His strike zone judgment has a history of being poor, but it's just been awful this season. The guy has been unnecessarily over-extending and pressing a lot moreso than he did for much of last season.
