So somebody tried to throw a beer on McClouth today (and missed by a foot) during Fukudome's triple today, just confirming the fact his comments were right on.

Did anybody else hear his interview with Sliverman and Waddle today?

Still trolling huh?

Yeah, it's stupid, but that crap happens all the time at ANY baseball park.

That NEVER happens at other ballparks!

Look, I know you're frustrated that Dusty Baker is your favorite team's manager. And I understand. It hurts. It's painful. And it dooms the Reds to probably another few years of losing records -- which I'm sure you're used to, since 12 of the last 16 years have prepped you. But don't take it out on us obnoxious Cubs fans. We're just doing the best we can while going through life drunk, gay and uninterested in baseball matches.

In short, go Cubbies!

Well, I got a chance to listen to Marty had to say (I don't get as much of a chance to listen to a major league game). The only thing that bothered me about the "tirade" was that it got WAY too personal toward the end. Obviously, Marty thinks the Reds are a team that is going to compete in the Central and he might be right. But to sit back and say that the Cubs are "going to find a way to screw it up" goes well beyond the responsibilities of a broadcaster.

For those who haven't heard Marty, he tends to "tell it like he sees it", which is okay, until it becomes a personal attack. Are Cubs fans obnoxious? A small minority which seems bigger because there are a ton of Cubs fans throughout the baseball world.

let's be honest, i hate a lot of cubs fans. marty isn't that far off in his assessment. the whole "they'll lose the division because they're the cubs" thing was really lame. but him saying that cubs fans are the most obnoxious isn't that far off.

But every fan base has obnoxious tools. If the Cubs do have more than most other fan bases, it's only because they also have a bigger fan base to sample from.

Rocket, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you've never lived in a state thats in close proximity to Boston and NYC. There's NO way Cubs fans can come even close to Yankee and Red Sox fans.

I'd even bet Philly fans are worse, they're just mean spirited from the start. Just ask cubmanpi

A few days ago I said how I wish Dusty Baker went to a team whose misery over the next 3 years I could truly revel in. Well now he is on a team whose misery I can truly revel in. And it's not because of Marty Brennamen.

Brennamen needs to shut his mouth and go back to the tanning salon. Guy's face looks like the saddle that his hick partner rides to work on. He is just bitter that coming to Chicago prevents him from getting his full $$$ worth out of his $19.99 unlimited monthly pass as Hollywood Tans.

However the majority of people at Wrigley Field everyday are drunk college kids or tourists that really could care less about the game.

Marty was right on.

You're wrong, and most of your posts are awful. It's a shame you're here.

I know, the guy is mouthing off about Cubs fans as he strives for that cool Bob Barker look.

It's difficult to imagine anyone thinking Marty was "right on" after he boldly proclaimed the Cubs wouldn't win the division because "they are the Cubs".........and of course we are reigning division champs.

Oops.

No one really cares about Marty. No one outside of the handful of Reds fans listen to him and his pbp of a team no one cares about. Let him piss and moan in obscurity.

If he and the Cubs haters he give some fuel to want to portray all Cubs fans as the same as a few jackass bleacher creatures, so be it. It's all out of bitterness.

I don't know I do think the Cubs need figure out somthing with all these idiots in the bleachers.

Oh, I agree. A lot of the behavior out there is embarrassing, and should be fixed.

But to say that is emblematic of most Cubs fan's behavior is ridiculous.

i still don't get how brennaman goes from the fans to "the cubs will never win because they are the cubs". it doesn't make sense.

if you want to pile on the fans, fine, but i don't understand how that has anything to do with the cubs losing because "they are the cubs". brantley actually stayed away from the cub fan bashing, simply poking fun of the goat superstitions.

I hope that beer guy from today got roughed up a bit afterwards. That was incredibly dumb.

It's nothing new. The first time I saw it personally was in 1988 when 3-4 guys tries to dump their beers on Lenny Dykstra, all at once.

The first few rows of bleachers have long been inhabited by nimrods.

There would be machine gun nests in the bleachers.

Marty brass generalization of Cubs fan, is borderline psychotic. Then to say:

Cardinals fans are hands down the best in baseball. They respect the game. They don't go to the game to do stupid stuff. …

That crosses the line into psychotic. To imply that Cubs fans "don't respect the game" and the Cards fans do, is a serious mistake on the part. Apparently, he doesn't do to much color commentary in St. Louis, or in Chicago, or he would realize St. Louis has as many douchebags as the Cubs. And the Cubs have as much knowledgeable fans as any team in baseball. For Marty to say this, means he has a personal agenda against the Cubs, because he sure as hell can't support what he says with facts. This is just hyperbole by Marty. Delusional, but hyperbole.

I would say, "Go to hell" to Marty, but seeing as not to many people outside of Cincinnati know who Marty is, I would say he's already there.
