DeRosa walks in front of Soto....err, no, Reed Johnson. :(

Gotta rest the man sometime.

I agree, you need to rest Reed Johnson sometime.

I see what you did there!!

This only confirm my suspicion that there's a Chuck Norris-ish cult forming around Soto.

Hit-and-runs backfire because the pitch is swung on and missed, or because the ball is hit on a line to an infielder. Hit-and-runs are advantageous on a groundball, or any kind of hit to the OF. If the odds for the latter are better than the odds of the former, then you've got a positive EV.

Not necessarily.

It's only +EV if the gain from a successful H&R outweigh the loss from a failure. The loss of a baserunner and the addition of an out is a lot worse for the offense than the gain from an extra base advanced on a hit to the outfield.

Fair enough. I was trying to keep it simple.

I don't want position players who have to bunt with runners on first and second and nobody out!

That was almost really dumb, dero!

Please don't tell me Blanco tried to bunt with the pitcher behind him.

I'm late to the party and this has probably been commented on plenty, but Fontenot/Theriot at 1-2 is bringing back bad memories of Patterson/Perez. We have many better options.

Unfortunately, one of the better options is in AAA because the Cubs didn't need another left fielder.

This goes back to needing to call Murton up.

Suspicion?

Not that there's anything wrong with it.
