Regardless of how incredibly insane this decision is, I just feel really bad for Murton. We are just wasting his prime years...he's done absolutely everything asked for him, and I haven't heard him publicly complain much at all no matter how much we jerked him around. And now he, as clearly the most MLB ready minor leaguer we have, gets looked over for a call up when our left fielder goes down.

 

I just hope he keeps his head up, and at this point I just hope someone gives him a shot, Cubs or elsewhere.

Try the outfield for the 2 or 3 starts he gets while he's up. Get ready for a lot of Theriot at short, DeRosa in left, and a rotation of Cedeno and Fontenot at 2nd.

 

I don't know why they've thought for almost a year that Patterson is a viable corner outfield option, but they do.

I can't believe how dumb this is. I was thinking this would happen this morning when Brenly told North it wasn't a foregone conclusion that Murton would be coming up. I thought of EPatt because they would think they needed a speedy lefty to hit leadoff instead of making the smart move. Ugh.

I almost never jump at these stupid conspiracies. But I think it's almost too coincidental that Brenly brought up during the game last night the possibility of a versatile guy being brought up, and then the Comcast post game cuts away from Lou's postgame press conference right when the name Matt Murton comes up. They knew how pissed the general public would be that the lovable red-head wouldn't be called up, and to have it be a Patterson instead!!!?? The spin machine got started before out 27 last night.

Murt must be on his last option by now, and with Soriano not expected to be gone any longer than the 15 day minimum, Murt would not get much time up, and theyd have to put him through waivers, and hed be grabbed up in a minute. Patterson has only been up and down once, and can be bounced around a few more rounds.
