Not surprised in the least. Everyone expects them to bring up Murton, but of course they do the exact opposite and bring up another 2b.

That's... insane. The guy that plays your position is hurt, so they call up a second baseman in order to move the second baseman to left field? Would it be too much to ask for someone in the Chicago media to point out how illogical that is?

" Matt Murton would be a solid left fielder on many MLB teams" - Jim Hendry

LOL

Not ours though. I mean after all, we have a great left fiel.... oh yeah he's injured, well we could use a great replacement left fielder like Matt Mur... Eric Patterson?

Seriously, ever since Soriano signed, Murton has been unable to get a full time place to play with the Cubs. Now, Soriano gets hurt and the Cubs have a perfect spot to put him, and we get a 2B to take his place?

I could imgaine Murton wants to beat Hendry in the kneecaps with a crobar after Hendry praises and vaules him so much and says he could be regular LF on any team then calls up 2nd baseman instead of him..

I imagine Murton would tap Hendry's kneecap weakly down the third base line for an infield hit.

I'm guessing they think Patterson can lead-off and since this team mistakenly thinks lead-off is a position, they wanted Patterson.

this is exactly why Patterson was called up, IMO. it's completely insane.

So how does everyone think the lineups will go with this move

Option 1

DeRosa to RF

Reed Johnson to LF

Fukudome to CF

Fontenot/Patterson at 2B

Comments: Would be very Cub-like to turn a hot start by a clear platoon player into a starting gig at the expense of the team's top prospect.

Option 2

DeRosa to LF

Fontenot/Patterson at 2B

Comments: The easiest move probably, but the Cubs have never been big on easy moves.

Option 3:

DeRosa to LF

Cedeno to RF

Patterson to CF

Theriot at SS

Fontenot at 3B

Brian Roberts, traded for Gallagher, Rich Hill and Felix Pie, at 2B

Jose Macais resigned to play C

Derrek Lee, at knife point is forced by Jim Hendry to call a press conference and announce that his prefered and natural position is actually 2B, but due to the circumstances will be a team player and agree to play 1B in the interim.

Comments: Hendry then wakes up...

i don't ever want to hear Lou or Hendry talk about Murton again. i can't listen to any more of their bs faux-compliments or statements about him.

i really can't put into words how incredibly pissed i am about this. i can't believe i let it upset me this much, but i feel like i need to punch someone/something.

did they say 15 day or 60 day?

No way he'd be on the 60-day right now even if the injury was severe enough.

Yeah, it's a stupid move.

I wonder if they will move Fukodome to left? Maybe start DeRosa in right. Of course, then you have 2 left handed 2nd basemen (kind of matches the 2 right handed 2nd basemen). Haven't we tried the fantasy all second basemen approach before?

I wonder if Murton would get called up if Patterson is late to the ballpark today.

Should I run down to Wrigley, drug the guards and refuse to let EPatt park in the players parking lot? Cause I will...
