Welcome to the new and improved CT gamethread, now heavily edited and featuring notes (excitement!)

Hope everyone had a happy Tax Day. Since the Cubs did so well I'll leave the team names as is. I believe the previous game could best be summed up by "Chicks dig the long ball". For the picture version (thanks various NSBBers) we have:

Today we have:

This doofus

1-1, 7.00 ERA, 6/3 K/BB

vs.

This conquerer of worlds

1-1, 3.20 ERA, 18/2 K/BB

UPDATED Notes:

- Soriano: Big idiot or biggest idiot? ANSWER: Biggest idiot, Lou says he will be "out for a while". MRI done tonight, results available tomorrow. Roto says:

Cubs manager Lou Pineilla said the team expects Alfonso Soriano will be out "a while" with his calf injury.

Soriano underwent an MRI, and the results will be available tomorrow. It's tough to know exactly what Pineilla means by "a while," but it seems like a trip to the disabled list is possible, with Matt Murton likely to be called up to start in left field. Apr. 15 - 11:51 pm et

- Is Matt Murton fast approaching? ANSWER: Mr. Murton, your table was ready... Its just too bad Eric Patterson bribed the hostess.

- Mike Weurtz, two straight horrible appearances. Injured or just a fluke?

- In a glance at the farm via our always awesome Minor League forum:

- Samardzija: 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2/2 K/BB, HR, WP, 1-11 GO-FO

- Ceda: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3/0 K/BB, HR, 5-7 GO-FO

Definitely injured. As we learned from Zambrano last year, a player's poor performances are obviously due to him being injured in some way or another.

Holy crap, Ramirez has owned him. 4 HR and 16 RBI? Sweet lord.

I remember Michael Barrett was most useful against Fogg... Here's his line:

The Reds give Zambrano fits. Not surprising with patient lefties and whatnot. I hope good Zambrano is here tomorrow, because he's likely to get shellacked otherwise.

4 years ago today was that game against Cinci where Sosa and Alou went back-to-back off Danny Graves (late of the independent Long Island Ducks and the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings ) in the 9th to tie and win it.

I'll take another great game like that minus the back-and-forth drama please.

If you don't call up Murton..I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul..

and this is coming for a Anti-Murton lover

This is 0 doubt in my mind that we'll win tonight and lose tommorow. While Josh Fogg may as well be a T Ball stand, especially with the wind blowing out, we have tat Edison whatsit Thursday, and anytime you hear the words promising young pitcher, the Cubs may as well not even show up to play.

I just want the wind to blow out tonight and in tomarrow. I think if Z is on it doesn't really matter which way the wind blows, and since they'll be facing Fogg the Cubs should smack him around. And Lilly needs all the help he can get.

Must. Keep. Winning.

How the hell are the Cards tied for the best record in baseball?

Lohse, Welleymeyer, Looper and some dude named Brad Thompson :banghead:

Anecdotal for sure, but we seem to do well against phenoms.

The wind will be just as strong as last night. Although diminishing as the day goes on, look for the wind to be blowing out to left at 20+ mph while shiftina bit towards left center.
