For the sake of this discussion, assume that you're the owner of a team with mid- to large-market payroll capabilities. Feel free to take into account salary, age, box office appeal, injury history, etc.

that's kinda why i like the question now. i think about 3 years ago the answer would've been pujols or maybe a-rod without much thought, but in 2008 there are a lot of ways you could go with it. a-rod you get the huge production for at least 2-3 years plus a likely big box office draw as he approaches 600, 700 and 800 home runs, plus bonds' record.

 

a-rod's not my pick though. i'll share mine later.

For me, there are certain players that are too easy too pick, for instance A-Rod and Pujols so I have to pick someone more obscure but not really obscure at all. So I picked David Wright.
