Pirates tie the ML record with 2 sac flies in an inning...

We should take OPR out after this inning and let Lieber go for a few.

I'd leave him in to see if he can settle down in the second. Don't forget about the pen being insanely burned, us visiting the offensive environment of philly next, and only having one day off in the next 17 days.

Agreed.

heh, i never thought about that. that's funny.

Would it still be a sac fly if an outfielder dropped a fly ball, but the runner from 3rd still scored? Seems like it would.

No, that would be reaching on an error, no RBI, I assume.

Geovany Soto.

Can someone tell me why Cedeno has success and doesn't get a follow-up start? I'm tired of seeing Theriot.

it explains that situation in here.

In the case of a fly ball dropped for an error, the sacrifice fly is only credited if the official scorer believes the run would have scored had the ball been caught.

I'm very worried that Piniella may pull Hill out of the rotation instead of Dempster or Marquis.

Yeah I know. Who wants 7 innings of 1-hit baseball when you could get 1 inning of walks?

sample size?

That doesn't make any sense. So the fielder makes a mistake, and the hitter is penalized? I know that usually if a run is scored in the case of an error, no rbi is recorded, but in this case the run would be scored, regardless of the error.

Cedeno got the last two straight starts. Theriot is the starting SS, like it or not. Expecting someone else to start for him 3 straight games isn't rational.

Life sucks like that sometimes.

You can't assume the run would have scored.
