haha

Here's a fun fact, Jim Bowden offered Alfonso Soriano to the Reds for Adam Dunn 8 times when he was the Nationals GM. Maybe if he threw a reliever in the Reds would have agreed to it the 7th time.

I'm glad one Reds fan has a sense of humor.

If that is true, the way to go for Bowden, would have been to trade Dunn to Washington while he is the Reds GM, quit the job, and take the Nats job. That's the only way the Reds would have traded Dunn for Soriano.

This one is REALLY far fetched, since Montanez isn't in the organization anymore (last I knew he was in the Orioles' system).

I think what he was going for there was trades of Cubs draft picks for guys who were drafted after the Cubs draft picks.

Matt Murton and Sean Marshall for Felipe Lopez?

That's not far-fetched. In fact, I don't know that I would make that trade.

hahaha :clapping:

Yup, its that time of year already. The panic button is being dusted off, and everyone and there mother has a trade idea or 2 that will probably never happen.

We all know that the Rangers wont be contending with anyone anytime soon, so:

Sean Marshall

Sean Gallagher

Jose Ceda

Ryan Theriot or Ronny Cedeno

Matt Murton

for

Michael Young

Josh Hamilton

Why don't we just trade 2008 for 2007 and KEEP Josh Hamilton after drafting him in the Rule 5 draft?

I really, really wish people would stop pretending we traded Josh Hamilton.

We sold our rule v draft slot for cash, since we weren't going to use it. It's not as if we actually thought "yeah, let's draft Josh Hamilton... and then we can trade him!"

Could Matt Kemp be an everyday CF? He's been losing a lot of playing time to Pierre. If that continues you have to wonder if Kemp could be had for the right price. Maybe we could swing a 3-way deal where we send Pie to a 3rd party and get Kemp from LA.

Even though we didn't actually draft him doesn't mean we weren't in the position to do so. If Hendry and his scouting department would have been able to see the possibilities for Hamilton, we wouldn't be playing Felix Pie and Reed freaking Johnson in CF right now.

Am I the only one who does not have a problem with a 75/25 platoon between Pie and Johnson (assuming that's what the platoon averages out to when all is said and done) in CF?

I don't have a problem with that, I just doubt that will be the ratio. But I'd take Hamilton over either situation.
