Thankfully my issues only start and end while I'm at the office. Nevertheless, I find it painful to get live action while at work.

Firstly, AM radio signal does not get through in the Loop. While I did try XM Radio all of last year, I found it worthless outside the MLB channels.

As for video feed, I've tried unsuccessfully to get any life from my DVR through a Location Free and PSP via WiFi and I'm too freaked out to unfork big bucks on a Slingbox only to find out it doesn't work (same goes for MLB.TV).

Anything else left out there to try?

Sadly, I just use Gameday which sucks.

And not only that, but the Gameday application starts to freak my computer out after awhile. The fan starts winding up, processor usage starts to peak. I have to eventually kill the web page and re-open it.

Again: sucks.

I've had that too. It sucks because not getting WGN and not being near Chicago limits me to watching Gameday unless the Cubs are playing the Braves, Phillies/ Pirates, Mets/Yankees, or on national TV.

Gameday/XM at the office, unless the game happens to be on ESPN, or they are playing a NY team and I can watch on tv.

XM/Phone/Blackberry at the beach.

Phone/Blackberry when out and about.

WGN or Extra Innings via good ole' Directv when at home.

Gameday audio plus game thread for additional visual commentary has been how I've done a majority of my following for the last 5 seasons, and that's been pretty good for me. If you find XM worthless outside the mlb channels, then the 15 bucks for a season of audio (always Pat and Ron, as opposed to the opposing team's duo on road games) is a worthwhile investment if it's something you can use at the office.

XM at work. If the Cubs aren't on, I'll listen to whatever afternoon games they have. I usually have it on the baseball station (175) most of the day. If a game isn't on, I'll switch it to music at 3 pm, so I don't have to listen to Rob Dibble's show.

Just curious, but what didn't you like about XM? I would think just about anyone could find something they like to listen to on there.

Aside undifferentiated music content, I hated the Commercials and Portability (or lack thereof). I found more use of the service by recording as opposed to listening live due to the insane number of debt free and male enhancements commercials. But what broke the camel's back was how weak the reception was when my Pioneer Inno was undocked - even while walking outside on the clearest day.

P.S. In terms of music content, Internet Radio on a PSP (heck, I'll go out on a limb and say even Pandora and IMEEM) is not that far off XM Music (Rock and Metal) - and gratis.

That's odd. To my knowledge, most of the stations have no commercials, with the exception of a couple of the pop muisc stations.

My memory might be aging, but 100% without a doubt the Comedy channel has about five minutes of commercials in between mediocre stand-up. Only way to get a true kick was recording it and skipping through commercials afterwards - which killed whatever true value my Inno had.

Ah yes, I was just thinking of the music stations. The uncensored comedy station does play 60-90 second commercial breaks occasionally.

So you're paying an access fee to listen to commercials. No thanks.

Didn't XM put out a slew of ads claiming "commercial free" programming? Liars.

Most of their music stations are commercial-free. I believe there are only two or three that play brief commercial breaks.

I love my XM, but try not to listen too much at work. Did see this announcement yesterday, where XM is going to start streaming via Blackberry

so that's exciting - it does make me a little frustrated that MLB hasn't developed a mobile Gameday application - doesn't seem like that big a stretch, they just haven't quite gotten there yet.

I do have the MLB Premium package too, so I can watch up to 6 games at a time - and I can hook up my computer to my TV (since Extra Innings hasn't been available from my cable company in the past)

While im at work and can't access gameday, i also have free text messages sent to my phone with updates with score changes and how the runs were scored.

Its pretty helpful when your busy at work.

Try MLB.TV (regular or premium) or just Gameday Audio. Each can be purchased on a monthly basis and you can cancel at anytime. If one or the other does not work you would only be out of $14.99 or $19.99 depending on the level of service you purchase.

I downloaded TVants and watched the game from some Chinese channel -- it plays in English. It can be choppy sometimes and won't always work but if you have a good connection you can't complain.

http://tvants.en.softonic.com/ - download it here

http://www.myp2p.eu/competition.php?competitionid=&part=sports&discipline=baseball - find the link to the game here

http://sopcast.allp2ptv.org/index.php?t=Baseball&c=&&Cnt= - another place to find games, have to download sopcast to use these links

http://www.sopcast.org/download/ - to dl sopcast

I came upon these today knowing I won't have CSN for another month, the TVants worked for me today although I have a bad connection and lost the game halfway through.

I use slingbox on my phone or laptop and gameday audio from mlb.com.

How do you like slingbox?

If the Cubbies are not on TV I get all the info I need from NSBB in the Game Thread. We had some wonderful posters who are nice enough to update the stats and play by play.

I have a slingbox too. I love it. The picture is great. It's hooked into my tivo, so I can watch the games and all my tivo'd shows.

The one thing I didn't purchase is the ability to stream to my phone. That is an extra charge.

Can you watch cable TV on your laptop from a place around 100 miles away from your home/cable box?

Yes. The Slingbox uses your High speed Internet connection to stream your TV. Basically, You are watching your TV over the Web. This year, my friend was working in the UK for 6 months during Bears Season. I gave him the login to my slingbox so he could watch the Bears play from his APT in London.

Really...cool. Is there a charge for this or is it just the cost of the slingbox? Also, do you need any other stuff to make it get the signal? Thanks!
