If OSU offers him $4m a year, what does it take to keep him at Kansas?

I'm more than positive that KU will give him a raise. Will it be more than OSU? Probably not, but he'll be one of the top paid coaches in the country, without a doubt.

If Self goes to OSU, then he can. He did what Roy couldn't do. KU will find another solid coach.

All I could think about while watching the trophy ceremony was "Gosh, I hope I get to see one of these for one of my teams someday."

Congrats, snood. What a shot by Chalmers. That was awesome.

Pop in an MJ or Chicago Bulls DVD. That always cheers me up.

Aren't you a Celtics fan?

Watch this over and over like I watch the final 40 seconds of UCLA-Gonzaga over and over:

I pray- literally pray- that Self will stay at Kansas so that OSU will go after Billy Gillispie. I would actually drive to Lexington, pick a McDonalds inside a Wal-Mart and sit there all day listening to that reaction.

Pure comedic gold, I tell ya.

I wonder if UK would even give OSU permission to talk to Gillespie. The last thing Kentucky needs is a second coaching search in two years. I think they have to keep Gillespie.

Crean bolting IU to replace Self at KU would be so delicious it would have to be fattening(Hey, if I'm gonna go fantasy schadenfreude, I'm goin all the way.)

Don't think for one second that Pelphrey wouldn't be at the TOP of the list this time in Lexuntun.

Mario Chalmers is the best player in the country no one ever hears about. That shot was absolutely ridiculous.

And an overzealous "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, AHAHAHA, AHA, HA" to Memphis choking their chance to ice it away at the free throw line. Also that stuff about Joey Dorsey. I'd say hate, but you kids have taken all the meaning out of the word. Hmmmm, I've got it. I megaloathe you, Joey Dorsey, now go pro so you can disappear into obscurity.

He might be the ONLY person on the list. I actually saw him play; I was in graduate school at UK during the first couple of years of his career. He (along with Deron Feldhaus and Richie Farmer) are basically gods at UK because they stuck out the probation and helped get the program back to the top.

If Gillespie is allowed to go to OSU that would make two generations of Suttons that at least indirectly led to a coaching change at UK (Eddie directly when he was fired by UK and now Sean if Gillespie replaces him at OSU).

No way can IU allow Crean to back out (assuming he's actually signed the contract). They cannot afford to go through another search during the same offseason (I'm talking about the effect on the program, not money-wise). If Crean hasn't formally signed the contract yet that could be another story.

Congrats to Kansas.

But man, how UNLUCKY was Chris Roberts? If the rim doesn't go all Bull like on him with 10 secs left, then that three becomes as useless as Ozzie Guillen, and Memphis wins it. I have no bad taste about the game, it was incredible, and I don't have bias toward either teams, even tho I did pick Memphis to win. But if I was Kansas I would be a little leary about offering a raise to Self, while he's been a good coach, he's a bounce of the ball in the rim away from having another LOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNG offseason. Kansas earned the vistory after getting a reprieve, but Kansas was everybit as fortunate, as they were good tonight.

I wouldn't any offer anything more then $3 mill per for Self. So, if Self wants to high-tail it to OSU, fine....Kansas could basically land any coach in America, now. But my feeling is...Self stays at KU.

I agree with the last part. I would offer slightly more than Billy D gets, but I wouldn't get into a bidding war with Pickens. Chances are we'd get Calipari if Self left. (TT would explode.)

However, I disagree with the insinuation that we should be leery of offering Self a raise (with the implication being he's not a great coach) and that losing to Memphis would have been some kind of black eye. That team was good.

What I meant was, I wouldn't go beserk on offering Self a big time raise. I mean Self really didn't do anything special, that Williams hadn't already did at KU, except for winning the championship. And while they did win it, they didn't because Self outcoached Calipari. And had THAT Free Throw go down, Self would have another LOONG offseason to explain how another talented KU team could underachieved so much. I would offer a singificant raise, but nothing earth-shattering. I would offer him an offer in the low Top 5-6 coaches in America in America.

how lucky was he that the refs didn't call a technical on him when he slammed the ball down on the court? 99% of the time that's an automatic T.

If Kansas would've lost, dropping their record to 36-4 and a loss in the National Championship game, that would've been underachieving?

But I do agree that Self doesn't mean as much to Kansas as he would to Oklahoma State; KU would simply get another big time coach.
