Too bad about Dopirak getting the ax. I always had this dream of him hitting Waveland a few times.

Ping, where do you find these releases? Are you a " source " ?

I used to work in the Indy Leagues and had these sent directly to the my email.

Let's relive the good times:

2004 - 541 ABs, .307/.363/.593/.956, 38 2Bs, 39 HRs, 120 RBIs, 123 Ks, 48 BBs

What should I do with the BA issue with him on the cover now?

It's probably worth more than your tourney bracket.

And to think I tried so hard to keep it from getting wet as I was walking home from Barnes and Noble in the rain.

I wonder how things would have turned out without that broken foot.

Nothing too surprising. Simon Lee was Steve Wilson's first Pac Rim signing - Lee was famous for taking off his hat when he went to cover first base.

Oh man I remember the first time I read about that, and I couldn't stop laughing just imagining seeing it. Still gave me a big smile today. That would have been something to see in person.

Bored with the names lately I've been mentioning?

Cubs released 1B/LF Brian Dopirak and LHP Derrick Ellison.

Dope has already signed with another Club.........

Did he ever actually play LF? I had always heard that the Harry Caray statue was faster than Dopirak.

How much longer do they hang on to Ryan Harvey?

The releasing of Les Walrond was actually part of a set of transactions:

RHP Justin Berg was promoted from Tennessee to Iowa.

LHP James Russell (who made his pro debut last August) was promoted from Daytona to Tennessee.

Walrond was released to create space for Berg at AAA.

That was quick.

This is one of the few times that I am happy to see someone being "rushed" according to normal standards. Russell was so much better than his competition at Low A that it was ridiculous. I hope he continues to progress at Daytona and doesn't struggle.

Berg to AAA to me is a sign that he needs to produce or he will soon be forgotten as well - I rank him high on my charts, but he still is having trouble putting it all together. He needs to become more consistent and fast. Good luck Justin!
