The following from "inside the ivy" that C. Walker, T.Layden and M.C Novas were released from the organization. I had the pleasure of having lunch with C Walk a couple of weeks ago in Mesa and wish him all the best!!!! I know him and Sean will remain close friends....

Thanks for info, peoria. By the way, I don't recall Sean in the box-scores this week. Did he get his work in via some other forum, or what?

Cuevas-Novas was a very tall Dominican drafted out of a JC or something in the mid-30's rounds. Supposedly threw pretty hard, and BA liked his stuff. But he's not that young, probably 22 or 23?

Yes, Sean threw in the AAA game on Fri and pitched two innings. He was scheduled to throw thurs but with Marquis/Marshall throwing they decided to let him throw at Fitch.

C. Walker? Is that Chris Walker? I think it was last year or maybe a couple of years ago in a spring training game, that he made the greatest catch I ever witnessed in person. He jumped up, and with arm extended over the fence, robbed a Seattle Mariner (?) of a home run. If that's the same player, he's quite an athlete.

Yeah, he's not as young as a I thought. He'll be 25 in November.

I wanted to see him do better just because he's so damn big. Oh well.

He was probably the fastest player in the system (although I think Pie beat him in a foot race), so the guy was a good athlete and had some potential in CF.

Wow. I guess, he just couldn't hit. I kind of lost track of him but I was looking forward to him progressing through the system. Oh well.

I had the pleasure of seeing Chris play for Boise for a couple of seasons. Best centerfielder I have ever seen at that level. But his bat...I was surprised that he did as well as he did at AA.

Nothing too surprising. Simon Lee was Steve Wilson's first Pac Rim signing - Lee was famous for taking off his hat when he went to cover first base.

The Cubs also released:

Matt Canepa-C

Simon Lee-RHP

Andrew McCormick-RHP

For some reason, as I was breezing through the thread, I thought that read Andrew McCutchen.

I was stunned until my double-take took hold of my senses.

Too bad about Dopirak getting the ax. I always had this dream of him hitting Waveland a few times.

Ping, where do you find these releases? Are you a " source " ?
