Did the Cubs have 4 top 50 prospects when Dusty was there?

Or did he just not play Ronny Cedeno?

In 2002 the Cubs had 5 of the Top 50, 7 of the Top 80.

And one of them will likely never throw the ball the same way he did before Dusty got his hands on him.

That would be Prior, since Wood was well past his prospect status in 2002.

Craig Wilson's resemblance to Kerry Wood has always been decidedly weird to me.

Just wait until he hits Adam Dunn seventh so he doesn't clog the bases.

OH MY GOD. SHUT UP.

It's not funny at all. Jesus Chrst I know everything Dusty did, I know all the quotes, I know what to expect, and on and on and on and on.

You just keep posting the same stupid ass **** over and over and over again.

Good lord, RedsZone is a great board if you don't want to hear this stuff. Otherwise, just chill out and stop antagonizing everything Vance posts.

And just face it, there's no way Hatteberg or Freel get benched for Votto and Bruce, because

If you have a girlfriend and another one comes along, should you put your girlfriend down because the next girl is just as pretty? That ain't right.

"It's just like fishing. You're going striped bass fishing. You've got birds on top and you follow the birds. Where the birds are, the bait fish are below that. Below the bait fish are the striped bass. That's what you want to do. That's how you want to do your lineup. That way they can't escape. That's how I try to make my lineup out so the opposition can't pitch around this guy or that guy and that guy and can't escape. You try to get them in the crossfire."

Enjoy, reds44.

Not a joke, per se, but Dusty is trying to assemble a similar team to the 2003 Cubs. I will laugh hysterically if they give Sammy a chance.

Sosa would hit alot of HR in that ballpark vs NL Central pitching, I would think. I doubt anyone signs Sosa at his asking price, though.

Here's the breakdown for Sammy's asking price:

10% - potential 2008 production

90% - ego

In all fairness, other than Prior and Cruz I don't see how Dusty would have had an impact on the development of any other prospects on that list. I mean, c'mon, Nic Jackson?

I'm willing to make an argument for Cedeno and Choi. The overuse of Zambrano could really come back to haunt us down the line.

You can try making an argument for Kelton and Bobby Hill, but I never thought much of them in the first place.

I'd question that validity of some of those "prospects" before looking Dusty's way.

In all fairness, Dusty never got his hands on a large number of those prospects.

My point was to show that the Cubs' farm system was actually well-regarded and that Dusty actually had exposure to a good number of them.

Dusty hit Lenny Harris lead-off! Lenny Freaking Harris!

And Jose Macias, and Neifi Perez, etc.... OBP to Dusty is an old rap song by Naughty by Nature

Nah....OBP---to Baker---means Off-Base, Please.

6) Juan Cruz (now THAT was a screwup of epic proportions you don't hear much about!)

That was pre age-gate.

juan had a dynamite second half of 2001, and he might've been overrated as a result of that. well that plus his stuff was electric, but he never was great at locating it, even when he started to put it together that year. but yeah, 2002 the cubs really didn't give him enough of a chance as starter; they sent him to the pen when he wasn't pitching that poorly as a starter, and then left him there the rest of the year. it should've been either starting in chicago or starting in iowa.

and juan cruz did have a really good year as a reliever this year, so he hasn't been a complete bust.

I'm thinking more along the lines of trotting out Shawn Estes instead of him and trading Cruz for a pile of useless garbage. I'm still bitter about how he got jerked around under Baylor and Baker.

I remember a lot of people here wanted the Cubs to sign Craig Wilson last offseason. I sure am glad that's a move that wasn't made.

Wilson no longer in camp

Outfielder/frist base Craig Wilson is no longer in camp. He was here yesterday for his physical, so that tells you something. The Reds haven't announced anything, but they likely will soon.

Wilson was expected to compete for a backup role as a right-handed bat off the bench

That didn't take long.

I'm guessing he's too spineless to do it on the open forum.

I'm sorry, I think I did that once already Vance. Stay hot. I'd do it again, but I enjoy some of the posters on the board.

Spineless......ouch. You make me so angry. grrrrr

I'm going to tell you all right now that this needs to stop immediately. And I don't want to find it in any other threads either.
