A healthy Prior is the one we saw in 2003, it's really too bad are Crack job of a med staff couldn't figure out there was something wrong with him till it was too late. I used to call his toughness in to question only to eat crow after they found all that damage.

"are" Crack job of a med staff... Did you mean to type our instead of are? In that case you're wrong and Prior's wrong to blame the "Cub doctors", because Prior didn't just get the medical opinion of the Cubs medical staff but Prior was referred to some of the top specialists in the nation. What was the name of that top surgeon out of California? He performed surgery on a lot of pitchers in MLB. If Prior wants to blame someone, he can blame himself.

Who else here was EXTREMELY excited the day that Mark Prior was drafted? Now THAT was a great day. I remember watching Prior pitch well against Georgia in the College World Series, and thought, man this kid is going to be "IT."

I haven't brought this up in any Prior thread after his departure. But I remember it was in 2006 when he had some starts. I mentioned the fact that I didn't think he liked it in Chicago anymore because he never smiled. Not once in an interview, during a game, ever did I see him smile in 2006.

I know this picture has been posted so many times but. My point is. He's happy that he's out of Chicago. You don't have to call him a vagina. But remember, Prior as a Cub is over. He doesn't like the Cubs nor it's fans enough to have signed a risk/reward contract. So I can understand a little resentment toward him because of that.

I just wished, both sides would have spearated on better terms. But it goes to show, while not as bad as NY, Boston, or perhaps Philly, Chicago is a tough place to play, and you need to be mentally tough. Am I calling Prior mentally soft....no, but I don't think his personality fit Chicago. Prior needed a more relaxed atmosphere...enter SD.

The Padres are looking at having Mark Prior begin a rehab assignment in April and return to the majors in early May.

Prior's agent thinks they should wait a bit longer. "To do it before that starts to cross boundaries of being prudent," John Boggs said. "I'd like to see him by the end of May, June 1. I don't want to see it before then. Then I think you're trying to hurry something that shouldn't be hurried." This will surely work itself out. The Padres don't want Prior to rush anything, either.

Does this feel like déjà-vu to anyone?

I was at the game in 2002 when he struck out 12 in six innings against Houston, at one point striking out 7 in a row after struggling early on. Never have I been so excited for a Cubs prospect.

That being said, I'm glad San Diego has to deal with his injuries and not us.

apparently, we can never ever have a mark prior thread without the words towel or vagina being mentioned. so much for self control.

I went out and bought Baseball Weekly, with the cover story being "Prior Hope... or Hype?", and laminated it thinking that it would make a nice collectable wall decoration someday. I still have the laminated cover buried in a chest somewhere, but unfortunately that is probably where it will stay.

And I was at a night game at Wrigley in August or September against the Padres...and we needed the game...dont remember which year....and he got bar-b-qued.

So what?

He had a lot of potential...some great moments...and got hurt.

End of story.....for the Cubs anyway....which is all I care about.

Towers said favorable reports on Mark Prior's recent mound sessions led the GM to believe that Prior, returning from shoulder surgery, could complete a rehabilitation assignment by early May. Previously, Towers said Prior wouldn't be available to the Padres before June or perhaps July. “He's looking good,” Towers said.

Of course. The "soreness" doesn't start until Spring Training.

It sounds like Prior is recovering from the surgery about as quickly as anyone could have hoped for at this stage.

oh sure. reasoning and facts, exactly the sort of post we were looking for.

If Prior comes back in July-earlier it proves that he wasn't trying hard enough with the Cubs to come back from injury.

If Prior comes back in September it proves he's a big smelly vagina.

Well he can always freshen up with a moist towel.

This is a cut and paste from previous years isn't it.

After replacing "significantly misdiagnosed injury" with "surgery," yeah.

I miss Mark, but it is great to not have to worry about when he's coming back...or if.

I would love to have the possibility of Prior pitching for the Cubs at some point this season as long as we weren't counting on it.

That's true. The problem is if we still had him cubs management would still probably be counting on him.

If/when I hear that Prior is throwing in the mid-90's again, then I will  ...

Otherwise, meh. The high-80's Prior was good at throwing BP.
